We’re excited to support ArchiMate® Standard shapes in Lucid!  ArchiMate® is an open modeling language used by Enterprise Architects (EAs). These shapes provide a standard, common language for EAs to map how business processes, IT systems, and underlying technology all connect. You can find these shapes within the Lucidchart shape library, labeled as the ArchiMate 4 Standard library. Example use cases for ArchiMate® shapes in Lucid:Value stream maps to link business goals and outcomes, demonstrating clear ROI to executives.  Create business process maps, connecting roles and daily tasks to supporting software for process owners. Map out APIs, data paths, and integration flows for IT and engineering teams. Conduct impact analysis and gap modeling for EAs to evaluate trade-offs.   How will you use these shapes in your work? Let us know in the comments below, or create a new topic to share your use case here in the Lucid Community!

We’re happy to announce that you can now generate fully editable Lucid shapes from your Mermaid syntax! 🎉 Let’s take a look at how it works ⏬ What’s new?Copy your syntax and paste it into your Lucid document. The result will be native, editable shapes that you can format and move around freely!  How can I edit my new diagram? After pasting in your Mermaid syntax, your shapes and diagram will be fully editable! Add, move, and edit shapes and lines Add and edit colors Add and edit text*Note that any shapes that are not yet supported will appear as static SVGs. Why did we build this?Writing diagram syntax in Mermaid is fast, but communicating and iterating with cross-functional stakeholders is always easier visually. This feature helps you bridge the gap between code and visual collaboration!Edit visually: Skip the tedious syntax trial-and-error. Generate your base diagram from Mermaid syntax, then use Lucid’s canvas to tweak and format as you’d like. Bridge the technical gap: Easily brin

Exciting update to comments on sticky notes! 🙌🏽 What’s new?If you’ve authored a sticky note, you’ll now receive a notification when someone comments on it, even if they haven’t directly mentioned you in the comment @author. Why did we make this change?Collaboration moves fast! Important feedback can easily get lost if a teammate forgets to tag you. Now with this new notification, you’re always looped into the conversation surrounding your own ideas and contribution. No need for manual check-ins! How do notifications work? The author that is displayed on the sticky note will receive the notification.Even if your sticky note is copy/pasted by another user, if you’re shown as the author the sticky note, you’ll receive the notification.  Let’s take a look at this with an example! ⤵️ Let’s say you’re on a marketing team brainstorming fundraising events. You have an idea for a gala event with a silent auction, which you add to a sticky note. A few days later, you’ve moved on to other projec

Hey there My company plans to apply Event Tree Analysis (ETA) as an additional risk analysis technique on top of the Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).  I know LucidChart supports FTA and we've brought FTA templates already. I was wondering if LucidChart supported Event Tree Analysis (ETA)?  Is there any ETA module available for my company to buy? Thanks!

We’re excited to share an update designed to surface the most relevant formatting controls while giving you a cleaner workspace. The new shape editing experience is available to all Free and Individual Lucidchart users now and will be released to all users later this year. What’s changingWe’re replacing the static formatting toolbar in the top header. Your shape editing controls now live in a streamlined Shape Editing Bar next to your selected content and in the Right Panel. Shape Editing BarSelect any shape on the canvas to see its formatting options. The Shape Editing Bar is dynamic, so it only shows the controls that are relevant to what you have selected. You’ll see the most commonly used options for that shape or object, making it easier to find what you need without extra clutter. You can also move the Shape Editing Bar anywhere on your canvas by hovering over it and dragging the 6-dot handle on the left.Controls may include:Lucid AI prompts Fill and line color options Text format

Now you can automatically create diagrams from your SQL database! Instead, import your data and it will populate in the left-hand panel. From there, you can drag and drop your entire imported database onto the canvas. Your ERD diagram will automatically generate, creating an organized ERD with all tables and re

We're introducing a new experience for the cloud accelerator! We've made some pretty significant changes with our UI in an effort to unify our products and give you the smoothest workflow possible for cloud diagramming.Starting today, all new documents with cloud data attached will open in Lucidchart by default. Existing documents you've already created will open in the last UI you used by default. To make sure you have the smoothest transition possible, here's a rundown of where you can find all the Cloud Accelerator features in the Lucidchart interface:From any Lucidchart document without cloud data attached, open the cloud panel by clicking on the cloud icon in the left side toolbar of your Lucid document. From here you can manage the data connected to your document and access quick start workflows for the Cloud Accelerator. You'll see a short list of suggested cloud datasets you can add to the canvas. You can also click Manage data below to open the data hub. Click here to learn how

We are excited to announce an update to the Lucid MCP (model context protocol) server - the Lucid plugin for Cursor!   You can now connect your coding LLM to Lucid to ideate, diagram, and manage technical architecture directly from your editor. That means your technical and engineering teams can create documentation in Lucid and provide context to their projects, without ever leaving the Cursor AI code editor. Here’s a quick summary of what’s new and why it matters! ⏬ What will Cursor and Lucid’s MCP server help me accomplish? Search: Locate documents with keywords and natural language prompts, instantly extracting action items and document summaries. Create diagrams: Generate diagrams, process maps, and user flows directly from text prompts within the chat.  Edit content: Dynamically edit and modify shapes and content. Share: Manage collaborator permissions, share links, and export documents.  Note: The Lucid Cursor plugin has the same capabilities as the Lucid MCP server. These

What’s new?You can now upload a PNG or JPG file directly into Lucid, and Lucid AI will automatically recreate the image and convert it into a completely editable Lucid diagram right on your canvas!Whether you are starting from a blank slate using our new document import option or enhancing a text prompt inside a current document, turning flat imagery into active, working diagrams has never been easier. Why did we create this feature? Recreating legacy diagrams or physical drawings is one of the most persistent operational bottlenecks our users face. Teams frequently waste valuable hours manually translating flat documentation or whiteboard sketches into interactive formats before they can actually begin collaborating.By introducing this image reconstruction pipeline to Lucid AI, we eliminate this friction entirely. We want to drastically shorten your time-to-value so your teams can bypass the manual busywork and get straight to collaborating. Let’s take a look at this with an example!

Stop hitting the brakes on your planning sessions just to manually log tickets or format messy grids. Context-switching and manual documentation are massive productivity killers. Now, you can keep your momentum rolling by bringing Jira card generation and dynamic table creation directly into your AI conversations. We’ve expanded the Lucid MCP capabilities to include:Generate synced Jira cards: Add or convert Jira items in a Lucid document as bidirectional synced Jira cards.    Create and edit dynamic tables: Create dynamic tables from prompts,  add cards or shapes, and change settings to fit your planning needs.    💡 Pro-tip for the best experience While not necessary for this feature to work, you can connect your AI client to both the Lucid MCP server and the Jira MCP server for the smoothest experience. This twin setup allows your assistant to seamlessly bridge the gap between your Jira project backend and Lucid's visual workspace—making card creation smarter and automatically orga
