Canvas Integration

Hello, Can I use Lucid as an instructor in a course that I teach and also as a student in a course that I am enrolled in as as a student? I guess the Lucid link in course navigation connects to your Lucid account and there’s only one account based on your Canvas account email. But in the role as a student in the course, you can submit a Lucid assignment and see an embedded Lucid document. Just thinking this through as I am creating some test courses for a training session. I wanted the instructors to see the student perspective as well. I want them to see how to create an assignment in one course and submit an assignment in another course. Thank you for any insights, Debbie

Bug: Breakout Boards through Canvas, "Change in share permission" error

Good Morning, One of my teachers has created a Lucid using the Canvas LTI Integration, and in that board they created a set of Breakout Boards. Whenever anyone other than the initial teacher tries to access the Breakout Boards, they are presented with one of two errors: Change in share permission You have heen removed as a collaborator for this board Or sometimes Login Required You're now logged out (probably due to inactivity or logging out of another tab). Log back in to save your changes. I checked with Canvas support, but they said it’s not something happening on their end, and to check with Lucid. Any thoughts what may be happening here?

Tips and tricks to facilitate peer review/feedback in Lucid

Peer feedback is a powerful strategy that enhances the learning experience for students and increases student overall learning. In this article we will cover a few tips for facilitating peer feedback in Lucid. Tip #1 Students share their work with each other and use the comment feature to leave feedback. Tip #2 Use a visual activity rubric to gather student feedback (set to anonymous responders as needed). Tip #3 Use a peer review template to guide student feedback. Tip #4 Have students use private mode so that multiple students can add feedback using stickies without seeing each other’s stickies. Tip #5 Students can use the Loom integration to provide video feedback directly onto the student’s Lucid document. Share with the group: how have you used Lucid to facilitate peer feedback/review?

How to see which students contributed during a Lucid activity

Instructors often wonder who contributed during class discussions and activities. There are a few ways that instructors can quickly determine who participated. Option #1 Highlight all of the stickies on the board and select filter objects. This will give you a list of everyone who added to the board and how many stickies they created. Option #2 Use collaborator colors to make sure each student uses their own unique sticky color to add their ideas to the board. Then, highlight the stickers and sort by color. Option #3 Last, but not least instructors can use the version history to view all of the edits and contributions made to the board during the activity.

Copying and Blueprinting Lucid assignments in Canvas

This article will walk you through how to copy or duplicate Lucid assignments from one course to another. To copy an entire course, navigate to Course Settings in the left sidebar of the current course and select Copy this Course . Note: Copied courses do not include any enrolled users. Copy one assignment to another course How to copy a specific assignment to a different existing course Assignments copied from one course to another will be added to a section called Imported Assignments A couple limitations to be aware of: Copying/duplicating a Lucid assignments within the same course is not supported. Any Lucid content embedded into an assignment or page using the RCE will not work if copied or duplicated. Keep in mind, if you copy a Lucid Canvas assignment from Course A to Course B, you will need to open the Lucid Canvas assignment in Course B before you would be able to copy the assignment from Course B into Course C.

How to transition from the old Lucidchart integration in Canvas to the new Lucid experience in Canvas

The old Lucidchart integration in Canvas is being phased out to make way for the new and improved Lucid experience. This guide will walk you through the transition process. Creating Collaborative Equity in the Classroom

There’s always a couple students who take up most of the conversation in class. It’s good to have them engaged, but how do you bring in the rest of the class and read the full pulse of the room? (we call this collaborative equity, allowing the full set of diverse perspectives to be heard) What I’ve found helps is having a Lucidspark board that highlights the different discussion points and prompts input along the way. I do have to remind them that they have multiple ways of interacting now, whether chiming in live or on the board, but I’ve found these prompts in Visual Activities or questions on the board with sticky notes ready to fill in makes it easy and clear where we want their input. Recently I shared an example in this video, showcasing how to accomplish these kind of ends. What tips do you have for getting the whole class engaged?

Student Input Driven Activities

Magicians guessing the card you picked is always a crowd pleaser...what makes it fun and engaging is that you’re a part of the trick. In the classroom, I’ve found it engaging to use student input to drive home points as they get to see their own efforts turn into results for the class. What I’m loving is how easy Lucid makes this. Recently I shared an example in this video, showcasing how to use Lucid increase engagement through input driven activities. Breakouts that don't cause students to leave

Hi fellow Educators! I attended an internal training and witnessed the typical “Breakout Bolt...” you know, when students go into breakout discussions in Zoom (or similar tech) and a smaller amount come back because many chose to just leave the training. This reminded me of some practices I shared in this video recently, reminding folks to make activities clear with visible spaces to fill in, among other tips. Can Canvas instructors add feedback directly onto a student's Lucid assignment submission?

When instructors push out a Lucid template as a Canvas assignment, each student gets their own copy of the template to work on and submit through Canvas. When students submit their Lucid assignment through Canvas, the instructor can access and provide comments using the annotations tools in Canvas’ Speedgrader. However, if you want to provide feedback directly within the student’s Lucid document, students will need to add a Lucid share-link to the comments box when submitting their assignment. Watch this how-to video or use the instructions below. Student completes the assignment. Click on the “open in a new tab” icon. This will open the document up in a new tab. Click on the “Blue” Share Button in the upper right-hand corner. Toggle on link sharing and copy the link. Go back to the Canvas tab, click “submit assignment,” paste the link into the comments box, and click “submit.”

How to access Lucid outside of Canvas

Many Canvas instructors and students are wondering if you can access Lucid outside of Canvas. The answer is YES! However, you do need to activate your account through Canvas first to get full enterprise access. Once you have activated your Lucid account through Canvas, you can follow the following steps to access Lucid directly. Go to lucid.app Input the same email address that you used to setup your account in Canvas or click one of the buttons below that matches your email provider (Google or Microsoft). Follow the login prompts and you will be directed to your Lucid Dashboard.

Getting Students Onboarded with Lucid

I’m a big fan of using Lucid in my classes. Once they are up and running on the platform there are so many different ways to use it within a class. The getting them up and running part in the past required time in class with me providing them instruction about how to use Lucid Chart and Spark. A few years ago I realized instead of spending class time teaching students how to use Lucid I could use Lucid’s training offerings as class assignments. That way they could learn on their own, from Lucid experts, and come to class ready to work. It saved time and built student’s Lucid skills much better than I could on my own. Selecting and copying Lucidchart text through Canvas Speedgrader is not working

I am grading Lucidcharts in Canvas Speedgrader, for a university course assignment, and I can’t select and copy text. I have double-clicked to highlight the text located in a shape. It won’t copy. I have dragged the cursor to highlight the text located in a shape. It won’t copy. I have tried to do this in both Safari and Chrome. Now it says I have been removed as a collaborator. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Hi folks, I’m teaching a variety of courses for which student (educational) use of Lucid.app on the Web provides some great capabilities at zero cost to students and teachers -- thank you! But … I would like to find the easiest way to safely and securely have students or teachers create a chart via lucid.app, save it (so it has a date/time stamp for provenance), share that version of their chart with others, and the shared-with person is then able to download, save, and then open a copy of that chart in lucidchart or lucid.app, and see all notes, comments, links, and so on. How do we do this? (Is this someplace in the “how to” documentation and it’s just not showing up on my search?) RELATED to this: I just now realized that when I go to https://lucid.app, it actually takes me to https://lucid.app/lucidspark. So I guess this is a LucidSpark product question? thanks! prof mike

Lucid Access for a Public Canvas Course

In this article we will review how embedded Lucid activities function for students in a Public Canvas course. Instructors are able to set their Canvas course to be available to the public. This allows for students to access course content without logging in to Canvas. Because students are not required to log in there are a few items to be aware of when adding Lucid activities or content to a Public Canvas course. Instructors are able to add Lucid activities to a Public Canvas Course, however only students who are logged in to Canvas will be able to see and interact with the Lucid content embedded in the Canvas course. It is not recommended to include Lucid content in a Public Canvas course, unless all of the students accessing the course are able to log in to Canvas. Students who access Lucid content in a Public Canvas course will receive the following error message if they are not logged in to Canvas. If students get Error Code: CE035, instruct them to log in to Canvas and try access
