Is it possible to determine if a student uses the AI feature in Lucid for their work?

Hi @Kaci Thomson

I don’t believe that there is currently a built-in feature that directly tracks whether a student has used the AI capabilities within their work. However, there are a few ways you can assess potential AI usage:

  1. You can review the document's Version History in Lucidchart or Lucidspark to see how the diagram evolved. Rapid, large-scale changes or fully generated content in a short time span may indicate AI assistance.

  2. If a student's work suddenly shows a level of detail or complexity that seems inconsistent with their previous work, you can ask them to explain their process.

  3. If Lucid’s AI-generated elements (such as automated diagram suggestions or text-based AI enhancements) are used, they might have a certain structure or phrasing that differs from manually created content.

I hope this helps!

Hi @Kaci Thomson ,

Thanks for posting in the Lucid Community! And thank you for your help @Ria S!

If your students are using Lucid through Canvas, Lucid’s AI features are hidden, whether it is embedded using the Rich Content Editor or as an assignment. If you want your students to have access to AI, they can do so by opening the document in Lucid rather than in Canvas.

As Ria mentioned above, there is not a way to track down whether a student uses AI, but she mentioned some helpful tips for assessing AI usage.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions!
