This morning I started to edit a flowchart that I’m working on, but I wasn’t able to. I’ve The grid behind my flowchart disappeared, and the options available under my title have also changed. The whole time I’ve been using Lucid and making these flow charts the following options have been present under the title

  • File
  • Edit
  • Select
  • View
  • Insert
  • Arrange
  • Share
  • Help

However, on the flowchart that I can’t edit anymore the following options are the only ones showing up

  • File
  • View
  • Share
  • Help

The page that I cannot edit is still saved as a “draft”.

Can you please direct me on what I can do next? I haven’t changed the status of this flowchart or moved it to complete or anything like that. Also if it’s helpful, I’m the person who’s created the flowchart.

Thanks

Hi @x-alenos

It sounds like your document has been switched to View-Only Mode, which is why the editing options have disappeared. Since you are the creator of the flowchart and it is still in Draft Mode, here are a few steps to troubleshoot and restore your editing capabilities:

1. Check Your Document Permissions

  • Ensure you are logged into Lucidchart with the same account that created the document.

2. Refresh Your Browser or Open in Incognito Mode

  • Sometimes, browser caching can cause UI elements to disappear. Try refreshing your page or opening Lucidchart in an Incognito/Private window.

3. Clear Cache & Cookies (If Issue Persists)

  • Go to your browser settings and clear cache/cookies, then restart your browser.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, try duplicating the flowchart by clicking “File” > “Make a Copy”, and check if the copied version allows editing.

Please let me know if this helps.

@x-alenos

Additionally, I believe that there is currently an issue displaying documents as “View-only” despite users having “Edit” permission. As a workaround, please try opening your document directly from the Documents tab in your Lucid app.

The Development Team is currently looking into this, and the issue is expected to be resolved shortly.

Hi @x-alenos, thank you for posting in the community! As @Ria S mentioned, there was a bug related to edit permissions which was resolved. This post has more details about this:

If you are still experiencing issues with this, could you please comment here or in the above post to let us know? Thank you for your help and patience and please let us know if you have any questions.
