When building a WBS in Lucid Chart. How can I automatically add another (more) work elements under the main topic? and when it adds will it select a new different color scheme? See attached screen cap.

Anyone have any suggestions? Or does Lucidchart not auto create more items? i.e. they need to be manually created?

You can add new shapes using the red dots that appear next to your work item as shown above!
I had the same question, Bill! Tried copy-paste Sub-Task and the “smart” auto-cleanup function, which aligned the subtask right underneath a parent task.
Under board settings, grid settings, they do have options for snap-to and line guides, which does make it easier to copy-paste additional boxes and still look uniform ...

In order to quick-add a line and shape from an object you should be able to do so by clicking on the round blue nod that appears when hovering over the shape, which then shows the previewed line and shape. When a shape is already present in that direction, a new branch will be created. In this case, as a next step, copying and pasting the shape then dragging the line from the “parent” shape quickly achieves what you have in mind. As such:
