Feature Request: Add Shapes Chevron Arrows

Lack of these shapes is disturbing

April 1, 2025

Hi all! I’m excited to announce that chevron shapes are now available in Lucidchart within the Geometric Shapes shape library. Look for both the “Chevron” and the “Irregular pentagon”. Happy diagramming!

I've submitted your idea to our product team on your behalf and it will be taken into consideration when prioritizing improvements.

Thanks for your request!

Chevrons are important to describe the progression of a value chain. I agree that this shape should exist natively.

I found that the right-arrow shape can be morphed and laid overlapping to replicate a chevron value chain.

Hi Brian thanks for adding your feedback and sharing this workaround!

John H107

Similar request - I spent a lot of time going through the shapes library trying to find it since this is a 'default' shape I'm used to from PPT.

The workaround I used was to first expand the chevron - trying to import the skinny chevrons from SVG libraries doesn't work because its a custom import in LucidChart. There's no way to 'expand' it.

1 - I expanded the chevron in PPT (made it "fatter")

2 - Saved that larger chevron directly from PPT as an SVG

3 - Imported SVG into LucidChart

Now its easier to increase/decrease the size for adding text and linking them together.

You can do it using the Flex polygon.

Hello,

I wanted to just follow up on this and ask if there has been a new set of “chevron” shapes added to lucidchart?  (rather than users suggest workarounds).  Since its been over a year :)

I feel creating chevrons in PPT, reshaping and then copying into lucidchart to be a “hack”, so hoping there would be a standard shape to import, as it is a very basic shape that is utilised in a number of diagram types.  I’d rather create the diagrams in PPT than jump about hacking shapes..so hoping there is some time spent helping users fulling move over to lucidchart.

Thanks again for your help in advance.

Thanks,

Mark

I beleive this platform is creating a blind spot for the Lucid Chart product team. I only came across it by chance when I was looking for my answer. The Chevrons are a popular figure/shape and this conversation was started two years ago with only three up votes. I wonder if the response would be different if you were to use other feedback mechanisms.

Hi @jmabrams, thanks for your feedback on this process and for taking the time to comment here - I’m glad that you found this post! We do receive a high volume of product feedback in this space, and our community team works to merge duplicate requests and capture popularity not only by upvotes but also by pageviews and activity within the thread. Then, the most popular requests are shared with our product development team regularly for their consideration - more details on that here. Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us, but we’re not able to implement every single idea and submitting an idea does not guarantee that our development team will implement it. We commit to keeping you in the loop where we can, and in turn we ask for understanding that we see and hear you, even if we’re not able to implement every request.

However, as our community manager, I’m completely committed to making this a system that you feel confident in and will continue to use. It sounds like improved visibility and discoverability of existing requests would be useful here. Are there other changes on your mind that would make this more effective for you?

Its ridiculous to spend so much time to find a Chevron shape. Your executive should take a look at this thread. It takes years to add a simple request. Pathetic!

Hi @athandapani

Thank you for your reply. I apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused you. User feedback is very important to our product teams and the development of Lucid. The most popular requests are directly sent to our product development team every month, but, these ideas are still helpful to our team even if they are not top voted requests. Our product team has to prioritize various requests internally and externally, so it may take time for this one to be addressed -- more details on that here.

As a workaround, you can import a chevron shape into your library by following the directions in this Help Center article, or you can import a chevron image/png by following the instructions in this community post.
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Just came here after searching myself for most of the morning and giving up and going back to Powerpoint. Would expect them in Lucidchart and Lucidspark.

Unfortunately this is what Lucidchart is lacking. There is a boring list of shapes. Sorry for using “boring” but I can’t find any other way to describe it because we can’t be creative when drawing our diagrams, see below screenshot from draw.io and you can see how we can create shapes that are completely non-standard.

I would say not only these chevron arrows need to be added but also they should have the ability to be customised. Most diagram tools like draw.io have this yellow-coloured anchor points with which you can customise the shape further. I also think curved chevron arrows are just as important as straight ones.

See this example from draw.io, notice how one shape can be customised to make completely new shapes using those yellow anchors: you can try it here: https://app.diagrams.net/
