Where did the top toolbar go?

same issue here!  where is the toolbar???  geting rid of the menubar was annoying but this cant be a new UI change that is intended.

Super frustrating, I come in to make a change that may take three minutes and here I am 15 minutes later without making that change trying to find out where the toobar has gone

no mention of this change in the changelog / release notes,  and i used lucidchart in the past 24/48 hours and i know the toolbar was there,  then:

Thank you ​@Alex K. for providing that PIN and screenshot, and ​@lucid J for your comment here as well. I sincerely apologize for the confusion here. There is a new update to Lucid’s toolbar UI.

We reorganized editing controls so the ones you use most are faster to reach: your most common controls now live in a mini bar directly above your selected shape, instead of a fixed toolbar at the top of the screen you'd have to look away from your work to use.

The side panel to the right of your canvas has those same controls, plus more advanced options.

You can access the side panel either through the mini bar above the shape, or by navigating to the top right of your canvas. The below two screenshots show both entry points to the side panel:

Once you’ve opened up the side panel, you’ll see additional editing options.

We are working on creating updated documentation with further details on this new experience, and I am sorry again for the confusion in the meantime.

Hi! I'm Annie, part of the product team here at Lucid. This change is intentional — we have moved editing controls into a mini bar and side panel so there's more open canvas space to work with, instead of a fixed toolbar taking up room at the top.

A couple of quick tips:

• The bar that appears above your shape has your most common controls
• The side panel has those same controls, plus more advanced options
• You can drag the bar anywhere on your canvas

I use LucidChart almost on daily basis, and re-shuffling the position of these tool bars and shortcuts that were accessible via one click, I now have to read the future to see where will what pop up, where do I go to make a change to the diagram objects, enter text and so forth… 

Really guys, I cannot be more honest by saying this - WHY?!?!?!?!!? 

This makes no sense whatsoever… any feedback you may have received asking for this change (if any was collected) is not only misleading.. apparently seems to be a decision by a person who does not use this solution on daily basis… developer, sales person, marketing, someone… but not the actual user 100%… 

So disappointing … several steps back in UI design changes… 

Please, please, please put this back where it was, the UX for this is so much worse

this really is a horrible decision (removing the toolbar) and to not document the change as well as not give users an option to turn the old toolbar back on even during a potential transition period, Just makes zero sense.  

also these (constant) replies of “sorry , but you can go leave feedback in XYZ Product Feedback section of the forum” -  how about support go make that post  for us and link to these comments (since the user has already taken the time to give the feedback HERE in this post).

I would understand those replies if this was an open source project, but this is a paid service.  Your customers are giving feedback right here.  tell the devs to LOOK HERE.

(To be clear I'm not blaming the actual support reps i'm sure they're just following policy set by the higher ups)

I agree with many here. Removing the toolbar is not an improvement. And I spent quite some working time today finding the editing controls as there was no hint to where they were moved. Earlier (I have just returned to using Lucid Chart) I have also been able to lock aspect ratio of shapes, but I can not find that option either anymore.
