Many of the icons I use as shapes in Lucid are white and I can't make them out clearly with the UI's standard color scheme.
Is there a "dark mode" for the UI? (specifically the shapes menu?)
Thanks!

Hi Tim
Thanks for reaching out in the Lucidchart Community! Unfortunately this isn't an option we currently have. The top upvoted ideas submitted here are passed on to the product development team for their consideration and are highly valued when prioritizing improvements to the product.
Thanks for your feedback!
I second the option to having a dark mode. I submitted a ticket as well.
Is there a way to look at your tickets as a read only or see the tickets we submitted to check/follow their statuses @maison w?
Thank you
Hi Aaron thanks for continuing this thread! We do not currently have a way to view or follow the status of a submission. We will update this thread here however if this feature is implemented to let y'all know. Thanks for submitting your feedback using that form we appreciate it!
you know ... before we had whiteboards we had blackboards ... I think this is a solved problem. just like invert that bad boy.
pleeeeeasse... my eyes... it's dark in here and y'all are so bright.
Hello Greg
Thanks for adding to this topic. Please make sure that you share your feedback here in this thread. The more requests we receive the more likely this is to be prioritized by our Product Development team!
Submitted a ticket as well really would like dark mode.
@scott g102 Thanks so much for your feedback - we appreciate it!
Just started using the Dark Reader extension which works pretty well IF you use the right settings.
In the Dark reader app click on "More" and then change the mode to "Filter" or "Filter+":
And then you get this:
@jonathan l101 That is a pretty cool add on but I am limited to what I can and cannot install on a work computer. It is better to have this functionality native from the company. There are less security loop holes that need to be addressed this way.
With that being said I will have to check that out on my personal setup! Thanks
@jonathan l101 Thank you so much for sharing your workaround - this is so valuable!
Changing the browser to dark mode improves the visibility of white icons 100%. Great workaround.
Hi @elikplim d Thank you for continuing this thread! If you would like to see Dark Mode added as a feature please upvote this thread and add your feedback. The more requests we receive the more likely this is to be prioritized by our Product Development team!
I also submitted the feature request form pleading for a dark mode. With the popularity of this thread it is inconceivable that it would not be on the roadmap within 8 months. It looks as if the developers have something against dark mode which is why it isn't an option yet.

+1 for dark mode and thanks to Jonathan L for the Dark Reader tip!
Hey Christopher
Thanks for keeping this conversation going! We are always striving to make Lucidchart better for our users. I can assure you our devs are working around the clock to make sure our product is everything we know it can be. Please fill out the feature request form linked by Liz so we can let your voice be heard by our devs.
Thanks again for your willingness to share your ideas with us--Cheers!
I find it very difficult to be able to use LucidChart because of the assumption that there is a forced white background. Because of a medical condition I am unable to sustain looking at bright images and I currently use Windows with high contrast mode enabled. Most apps and browser contents obey the accessibility requirement imposed by Windows to render in dark and high contrast mode but LucidChart does not.
Lucid really need to progress a fix for this under an accessibility and compliance theme it's not a nice to have.
Hey Tomo
Thanks for chiming in!
I'm sorry to read that the absence of a dark mode is so inconvenient for you and makes the product a lot less accessible and adapted to your needs. We hear you and highly encourage you to continue to share your feedback on this thread.
Your feedback really is helpful to our Development Team so that they can prioritise what to work on according to users' needs and wants!
Echoing Tomo's post I also have a condition that prevents me from looking at white UI's for very long. For many people with visual impairments darkmode is considered an accessibility feature. For everyone else it's something that is cool. Two birds one stone! I hope the devs can prioritise this.
Hi @darius thanks for continuing this thread and sharing your thoughts! I can certainly see how the addition of dark mode can be useful for many users. The best way to add your voice is by submitting a feature request via the form my colleagues have linked in this thread.
While it's not the same as dark mode it is possible to customize the style of your document such as the colour of the canvas or adding theme by clicking the styles icon in the formatting bar to make it easier to work in.
Thanks for submitting your feedback using that form we appreciate it!
Dark mode feature requested! Let's see it!
Hey Louis
Thanks for your willingness to share your ideas with us--Cheers!
One option I hadn't seen listed here that might help some users in leiu of a proper dark mode feature:
right click > Page Settings > Background color:
Helped me turn off most of those pesky white pixels. :)
@david j102 Thanks for your helpful tip!
Whilst all the suggestions are helpful the issue fundamentally is that lucidchart assumes a default forced white background which is the main focus. Whilst we can change the background manaully many colleagues forget to do so and individuals who need a dark mode end up inconveniencing everyone else because the tool fails to suitable adapt or re-render on the fly.
Also to note is that whilst the main focus might be the default white background obeying most efforts to re-render into a dark mode there's also the issue that if it does often the other objects on the page fail to also inverse their colour scheme enough and the result is a bit of a mess of not-so-lucid chart and invisible objects.
