Automatically build diagram from image of existing floor plan

Related products:Lucidchart

Hi,

is it possible to scan and upload an existing floor plan and edit in Lucid?
I have a floor plan from a client that I need to remove some walls and make a fire alarm plan with.

TIA

Hi @chrisc943, thanks for this question! Can you confirm what form the current floor plan is in and what tool it was built in? This will determine the options available to you.

Hi Micah,

It’s in pdf or Jpeg form that I've scanned from paper plan.
The architect that originally drew up the plan isn't part of the project anymore but I'd like to use his plan to create my emergency lighting and fire alarm drawing if it's possible.

Hey Chris, thanks! Unfortunately, Lucidchart doesn’t support the ability to build a floorplan (or any diagram) from a PDF or image file. I believe your best path forward will be to manually rebuild this, but I’d encourage you to search the Template Gallery in Lucidchart to explore other floor plans - I imagine many might serve as a good starting point and save you some manual work.

Also, we’re very interested in your feedback and committed to continually improving our products. If you’re willing to share, we’d love to hear more details about your use case or what you’d like to see in this experience within this thread. I’ve also converted this post to an idea so that it’s visible to others within the Product Feedback section of the community - from here, they can upvote it and add details of their own.
