How can I put a legend in my Lucidchart document?

Hi Reya - Thanks for reaching out! We don't have an automatic way of creating a legend for your diagram. However you can certainly make one yourself. I would recommend simply adding it to one of the corners of your document and adding in boxes to show the color code you've set up and then text labels to tell viewers what the colors mean.

Still not available in the product from what I can see but I found a very easy work around.  Just create your legend or document key in a spreadsheet program and copy / paste into Lucidchart.  I only tested with Excel and it worked well.  Some of the boxes were opaque and some where filled in white so I just had to fix that.

We as a company (Trimble) have been using Lucid charts for some time now.  As a group of consultants we primarily use it for flow charting.  We all find it rather disappointing and disconcerting that Lucid does not have the Legend feature.  In most drawings flowcharts or otherwise legends are a required feature. Are there plans to include a Legend feature like Visio provided? 

I see this request has been an ask since 2016.

Hello! I’m a UX designer at Lucid and wanted to let this group know that Lucidchart released a diagram key feature in the last couple of years.

You can now drag and drop keys to the board from the Standard shape library. 

You can also automatically generate a key from existing ‘shapes in use’.
