changing ownership of a document

karen.leonardi

It would be nice to be able to change the owner of a document from one user to another without having to copy the document or remove a user account.  Use case:  a user changes role/project and documents they have been working on are assigned then to a person taking on the role.  Imagine a bunch of documents.

Hi Michelle unfortunately there is no way to change the ownership of an individual document. You can share your document with another user and have them make a copy of it in their account- they will be the owner of the copy. Admin users on Team and Enterprise accounts can also delete users and transfer all their documents to another user on the account but there is currently no way to do this for an individual document. Please see our Transfer Files article for more information and feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Hi

Is there a way to change which user receives notifications when others are requesting access to a file?

Hi Jake

Unfortunately there is not currently a way to adjust which users (with "Edit and Share" access on the document) receive notifications to share the document with the individual requesting access to the document. Would you mind adding your suggestion to our feature request form? Thanks!
