Thx Micah. Why do I have to "Connect Lucidchart with Google Drive"? This is too many steps and frankly I don't know what "Connect Lucidchart with Google Drive" means.
Why can't I just go to my Lucid Chart > File>Export to Google Drive>Workspace; and then just navigate to the Google Folder where I want this Lucid Chart to reside? It is this functionality that you say is broken? If so yes please let me know when this is repaired.
Thx. - Gene.
PS - You should also just allow a response via the email I received. I am responding to a recent note I sent along. I don;t even know if this will get to you - this is too many steps and uncertainty as well.
Hi Eugene apologies for the frustration you've experienced! For context I will link to the thread of your original question here. Unfortunately our community platform doesn't currently support responses and additions to threads via email - they must be created on the post in the community directly. However I certainly understand how it would be convenient and straightforward to respond to the email notification and I've noted this feedback about how we can improve - thanks for sharing!
To clarify the functionality of the Google Drive integration there are several capabilities all of which require the initial connection setup described in the "Connect Lucidchart with Google Drive" section of the Lucidchart in Google Drive article:
Export from Lucidchart to Google Drive: This is the functionality that you have described above. From an open document within Lucidchart you can choose File > Export to Google Drive then choose the file format (JPEG PDF PNG VDX) you would like. (Please note that this export option creates a file in a format independent from your original Lucidchart diagram - it does not contain a link to the original document in Lucidchart.) The exported file will be placed in your root Google Drive folder and from there you can relocate it to any other folder you'd like. The help center article linked above demonstrates those steps in this section.
Sync to Google Drive: After establishing the Google Drive connection to your Lucid account you can enable the Sync functionality which will create a new folder within your Google Drive dedicated to Lucidchart documents. Any newly-created document will automatically be synced here and from there can be relocated in your existing file structure alongside any other relevant documents and files. While the Lucidchart document is not editable directly within Google Drive it does link directly to Lucidchart. See below for an example where I've opened a synced document with Google Drive - note the "Open with Lucidchart" button at the top!
Automatic backups - You can schedule automated weekly backups of all documents in your Lucid account to be created and stored within your Google Drive as a .LAF file (a compressed collection of your documents similar to a ZIP file.) At any time you can download one of these .LAF backups from Google Drive and re-upload it into your Lucid account to restore any documents that existed in your account at the time of the backup.
Currently all of this functionality is unavailable due to the aforementioned bug but our development team continues to urgently investigate the issue and we expect it to be restored shortly. Apologies again for the inconvenience here! Please let me know if I can clarify any additional functionality.
Hi Eugene the bug I mentioned in my response above should now be resolved and the Google Drive integration should be fully functional! Please let me know if you have additional questions about its set-up or use.
