Hi - I am needing to transfer ownership of a Lucid Chart document to a Lucid user who is not part of our organization (he’s part of another org). I do not see any option to transfer ownership even though he has been granted access to the document. How do I accompish this?
Hi
If you're trying to transfer ownership of a Lucid Chart document to a user in another organization, and you're finding that the ownership transfer option isn't available even though they have access, the person who will become the new owner, and they must have accepted the invitation and actually opened the document. It's also important that the document isn't located within a shared folder.
Once your collaborator has accepted the document invitation, you should be able to transfer ownership by clicking "Share" in the top right corner of the document. You can also access the Share panel from the Lucid Home Page by clicking the three-dot menu on a document and selecting "Share." Within the Share panel, go to the "Collaborators" section and select "Manage." Then, click the sharing permissions icon for the person you want to make the owner, and you should see the option to "Make owner." Just a reminder, the "Make owner" option will only appear after they've accepted the share invite. A confirmation window will appear, where you can choose whether or not to remain a collaborator. After confirming, the new owner will receive a notification of the transfer. You can see more about this sharing process here.
Have you confirmed that the user in the other organization has both accepted the invitation and opened the document at least once? Sometimes that second step is missed, and that's why the "Make owner" option doesn't appear.
Thanks for the response. Yes, the user has accepted the invite and opened the document. Here’s what I see
