I have a Marmaid code from ChatGPT for a flowchart. How do you transform that code to a diagram in Lucidchart?

I am excited to share that Lucid has released the ability to create a diagram using mermaid code syntax! We support 8 different diagram types including: flowchart, sequence, class, state, C4, gantt, and entity relationship diagrams. Try it out for yourself or learn more here

I’d like to edit a mermaid diagram like a normal Lucid diagram, move blocks and connectors around, add text, etc..

I have to use ChatGPT uses draw.io to convert Mermaid to XML, then import that XML document to Lucid, then open and edit that messy diagram.

Can you add a feature to automatically convert mermaid to lucid and make the output appear similar to the original?

Hi @Bill.Stout ,

Thanks for sharing your experience and request! At this time, Mermaid diagrams created in Lucid can’t be fully converted into editable Lucid objects in the way you described. I completely understand how valuable it would be to bring in your Mermaid code and then be able to move shapes around, adjust connectors, and style the diagram just like a native Lucid chart.

We’re very interested in this feedback as we continue to improve our diagram-as-code features. I recommend adding your idea in our Product Feedback section of the community (with the Topic Type = Idea). If a similar request is already there, please upvote it and add your details. This helps our product team track interest and prioritize improvements.

In the meantime, the draw.io XML import is a helpful workaround, though we know it isn’t ideal. Thank you again for raising this, and please keep the feedback coming!

I went ahead and submitted an idea for this:

Hi everyone!

Jumping in the thread to share that you can now generate editable Lucid shapes from your Mermaid syntax! 🎉 Copy your syntax and paste it into your Lucid document. The result will be native, editable shapes that you can format and move around freely!
