How do you want to use Mermaid diagram-as-code in Lucidchart?

Where is the initial mermaid code coming from? 

• It starts as something that is generated from coding tools

Once the mermaid is imported into Lucidchart, what types of things do you hope to be able to do with it?  

• I hope to be able to change the shapes and interact with it as if I had built it by hand in Lucid.

Once the diagram looks the way you want it to in Lucid, what do you want to be able to do with it?

• I hope to be able to use all current functionality availble with diagrams I created in via the UI.

Which types of mermaid diagrams would you like to be able to use?

• Flowchart would be the most useful to begin with.

What is the lifespan of the mermaid diagram? How is it being used again after the initial creation and collaboration?

• I use it to get started with building the diagram so I don’t have to start from nothing.  I intend to update it and make it right after bringing it into Lucid.

What are the most painful aspects of this workflow? What is the single most painful aspect?

• Currenly I have convert and import it as a .csv which is annoying and is somewhat lossy. 

What do you wish Lucid would change or improve to make this workflow better for you?

• Add support for importing directly from Mermaid format to create new diagram.

I’m using Claude Code or Codex to create the initial mermaid diagram as it will get me 80% of the way to the full diagram much faster than creating it by hand. Claude Code / Codex has context on what I’m trying to do, so I prefer to start there instead of the Lucid AI.

I’d like to further modify the diagram by moving shapes around, color-coding, and organizing the diagram.

I’d want to link the diagram in a doc or PRD or similar for stakeholders to review and comment on.

I’m using Claude Code or Codex. They have the structure and knowledge but generally make terrible diagrams. They always need hand-tweaking to be human readable. AI has no problem with them.

I want to get it back out in Mermaid format. Our repositories use markdown. Your current export options are extremely limited. I can’t export to Plant or Mermaid which means I have to use other tools which are generally inferior to Lucid but at least I can get the changes back.

It lives forever and gets edited often. AI will mangle them, I’ll have to fix them and then put back in the markdown file.

Thanks for building these toolchain integration features!

All types of SDLC diagrams are in scope, with the corresponding notations (BPMN, UML, Archimate, ERD, etc.). Our intent is to seamlessly integrate human and tool/agentic diagram generation workflows.

Many diagrams end up embedded in Jira, Confluence, Word, or PowerPoint.

We’re using different tools / AI agents to generate mermaid code. Some of it gets committed to repositories; some gets generated from application source code in repos.

Most diagrams gets manually updated / refined as part of the HITL steps, shared, collaborated on, etc.

Human and automated workflows use mermaid diagram templates with styles for visual language continuity across the toolchain.

The Lucidchart diagram-as-code respects the style, but diagrams are not editable. Pasting mermaid on canvas currently loses styles but diagrams are editable.
.drawio is the most robust format but frequently requires a step in app.diagrams.net to fix compatibility issues when importing into Lucidchart.

It would be great to have insights into your toolchain roadmap so that we can align our approach with it (e.g. are you focusing on API, mermaid-centric, drawio/xml, all of the above, etc.).
Are you planning on providing mermaid templates for Copilot, Claude, etc. to generate Lucidchart-compliant mermaid code -or some other type of standard / Lucid proprietary format?
Would these templates support styles and notations? Could these templates be created graphically in Lucidchart and then exported in a format appropriate for agentic grounding?
