Hi @shgutsch

Thanks for providing that information!

The error you are seeing means that the student has reached the maximum attempts that is defined by the teacher when creating an assignment. This can be either limited or unlimited depending on what the teacher set. In this case, the error may be appearing because you are using duplicated assignments.

To bypass the error you are seeing, you can:

  1. As the teacher go back into the assignment settings
  2. Change back to limited submissions
    1. Set a desired number
  3. Return to the student, observe that the user is able to submit their assignment up to the limit

Thanks!

Hi Shgutsch! Just to clarify, your student is experiencing an error message in Lucid stating "You have reached the maximum number of submission attempts," and the submission button is deactivated, preventing them from submitting their work? To help resolve this, we need some additional information. Could you please provide screenshots of the error message and the deactivated submission button? This visual information will be very helpful in understanding the issue.

Also, which Lucid product is being used (Lucidchart or Lucidspark), whether this is a specific assignment or general document sharing, and what submission method is being attempted (within Lucid, via link, or file export). Also, let us know if this is a problem for all students or just this one. Has your student tried different browsers or devices? Browser compatibility or device issues can sometimes cause glitches. Please check the assignment instructions for any stated submission limits, and tell us if the student is using a free, educational, or enterprise account. Also, tell us what steps the student has already taken to try to resolve the issue, and if there is a deadline for the submission.

In the meantime, double-check the assignment instructions or any related documentation for explicit submission limits. If the assignment is within a LMS integrated with Lucid, check the LMS settings for submission limits. Also, as for the potential browser issue, advise the student to try a different web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge). Have them clear their browser's cache and cookies. If possible, test on a different device to isolate device-specific issues.

Let us know if this works or if you have any other questions.

I was testing Lucid with my colleagues, and I removed them from my test site, so I cannot provide a screenshot. However, I can provide more detailed information:

  1. I copied an individual Lucid assignment from a model course that I developed with faculty to see how the Lucid assignment behaves once a course copy is conducted for a new semester. I copied the assignment into my sandbox.

  2. I enrolled my colleagues to test if they could submit an assignment.

  3. They were able to enroll in the Lucid assignment (click "assignment" » "see the Lucid enrollment" » "create account").

  4. They were able to post and create a mind map based on an existing template created by the instructor.

  5. They saw the submission button in the top right corner above the mind map within the Lucid system, not in Canvas.

  6. The button was light in color, which indicates that it was not clickable or was deactivated.

  7. When they tried to click it, they received the error message that I shared, which happened with both testers.

Note: I used Canvas platform. Assignment was created with Canvas Assignment with integrated Lucid tool in Canvas. Tested when copy assignment from one to another to see if it work correctly but it wasn’t work at all. Course developer created her own template. Before testing this assignment, I also create test assignment within my test site both tester did not had any issue to submit. Just had issue with copied assignment from other course.

Question: I love to have a short testing session with someone with Lucid.

Thank you for looking into this issue.

Seung

One more thing, Canvas side of Assignment was set it up as unlimited attempt. Do I need to do anything in Lucid side?

Thanks

Hi @shgutsch

The error you are seeing is likely due to the fact that the assignment is set to unlimited attempts and duplicated. Please follow the steps below in Canvas so you no longer encounter an error:

  1. As the teacher go back into the assignment settings
  2. Change back to limited submissions
    1. Set a desired number
  3. Return to the student, observe that the user is able to submit their assignment up to the limit

Let me know if you continue to experience any issues!
