Resizing an image without maintaining width/height ratio
Hi
I added an image to my Lucidchart diagram and I want to resize it without maintaining width/height ratio. I tried to unlock the proportions in the "shape options" menu but it doesn't work as desired. If I try to resize the image it is cropped instead of changing proportions. Any idea on how I can solve the problem?
Thanks
Valentina

Hi Valentina
Thanks for posting in the Lucidchart Community! Unfortunately what you are trying to do is not currently supported in Lucidchart.
However, we’re very interested in your feedback and committed to continually improving our products. If you’re willing to share, we’d love to hear more details about your use case or what you’d like to see in this experience within this thread. I’ve also converted this post to an idea so that it’s visible to others within the Product Feedback section of the community - from here, they can upvote it and add details of their own.

hi, is this still not possible to do?
(i could have sworn ive done it in the past on lucidchart, and to keep Proportions I would hold down control while dragging to resize an image)
but i cant figure out how to do it on a project today (that is resize an image and NOT maintain proportions/ratio - so maybe i was mistaken?).
thanks
Hi @lucid J, thanks for continuing this thread! You’re correct, this is now possible in Lucidchart. To resize an image without maintaining the proportions/ration, simply select the image, then de-select the lock in between the Width and Height fields within the Shape Options menu. I’ve demonstrated this in the GIF below!

thanks, before i made my post/reply what you show in your screen cap is the exact same behavior i was seeing (after un-clicking the neat lock icon) , ie even in your image the unconstrained resize does not seem to be working correctly (it seems like a resize + cropping is going on?)
here is an example screencap that hopefully shows it better (first is Lucid, then Visio where i feel Visio is doing a correct un-proportion/unconstrained image resize:)
as nit-picky as this sounds, The unconstrained resize that Visio is doing is what I needed in this specific use case.
thanks

Hi @lucid J, thank you for this example! I see the difference, and I understand. Unfortunately, that behavior you’ve modeled isn’t currently supported in Lucidchart, so I’ve reopened this feature request to make sure we’re properly capturing what you’re looking for in this use case! Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to support your work in the meantime.
