I’m attempting to export a VSDX or VSX file but I keep receiving the error “An error occured. Failed to download.”

Is anyone else having this issue and unable to export?

To copy all the content to a new document:

  1. Select all the content by hitting Ctrl-A (Cmd-A on a Mac) OR by dragging your cursor to draw a box around the content.
  2. Copy it by hitting Ctrl-C (Cmd-C on a Mac) OR by right-clicking and selecting Copy.
  3. Open a brand new Lucidchart document.
  4. Paste the content by hitting Ctrl-V (Cmd-V on a Mac) OR by right-clicking and selecting Paste.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 if you have a multi-page document.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions!

Hi @Denys Poltorak

Thank you for the reply, can you confirm that you tried the steps below?

Try the export in a Chrome Incognito browsing session. This often improves performance by clearing your cache and cookies and disabling your extensions.

  • Sometimes issues like this can be related to internet connection speed or network security. Please try the export again on another network and disable any VPN’s, ensuring that you are on a strong, stable connection.
  • If your export is timing out or your content is the wrong size in the downloaded version, adjusting the content scale can help. To adjust the content scale, infinite canvas must be toggled off.

If the issue persists, please send the following information:

  • A screenshot of the associated Javascript Console output. You can open your Javascript Console by pressing Ctrl + Shift + J (if your computer is a Windows / Linux) OR Cmd + Opt + J (if your computer is a Mac).

Hi @Denys Poltorak

Thank you for the reply and providing that image! I looked into the support pins you provided and found that the issue was linked to the “logger” shapes. I found in my testing that replacing these, resolves the issue. Does the same work on your end?

@Kelsey Gaag Yes, if I remove the rectangles the diagram saves to VSDX

@Denys Poltorak, Thank you for the reply! I am glad this resolved the issue. It looks like the system couldn’t find a shape to match in the VSDX format. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

@Kelsey Gaag Thank you for identifying the shape to delete from the project to be able to export the remaining shapes.

Hello @Morgan T, I am having similar issues with my attempt to export to VSDX format (I also tried pasting into blank canvas). Can you please look into this for me? My Support PIN is dupA71W4q9T2ug122947444

Hi Kelsey,

No luck. I have tried in Chrome incognito. My connection is the same land-based internet connection that I use for work which is capable handling video-conf. streams - Hence quite stable.

Also, I don’t have infinite Canvas enabled.

Export works fine for other formats (Albeit I do get the occasional page unresponsive due to the size/complexity of the diagram), but no luck with VSDX format.

If it helps, the diagram does complain every time I open it:

Aside, I have tried using Edge and it too errors-out:
