Whenever I select > 1 object in a Lucidchart drawing, the Multiple Objects tab automatically pops out from the right side of the screen. I must then click the tab show/hide toggle button to make it go away (to keep my workspace free of your control clutter). This is very, very annoying. How do I make it stop?

HI Clint,

By “multiple objects tab” do you mean the contextual panel on the top right (see screenshot below) ?

If yes, is this happening for specific shapes like third party shapes only ? I tried with some basic shapes and this didn’t happen. When the panel did open up after selecting multiple shapes and I clicked on the icon, next time onwards the panel didn’t appear. Are you experiencing something else ?

Thanks

I have also noticed that whenever I select a shape in my drawing that belongs to a 3rd-party shape library (e.g. Amazon), a tab for that shape pops out. Why are you guys doing this?! Can this ‘feature’ be disabled?

Yes, it is the contextual panel (did not notice the tool tip previously). And yes, this only happens with 3rd-party shapes. My experience is that every time I select a 3rd-party shape this contextual panel is popping out.

Hi @Clint Mojzes, thanks for confirming that! Thank you @Suman Chatterjee for your help here.

@Clint Mojzes Could you share a temporary Document Support PIN for this document? This will help me take a closer look at what’s going on. This PIN is safe to post in this thread because it is only accessible by members of the Lucid support staff. You can find steps for generating a Support PIN in this Lucid Help Center article: Generate a Lucid Support PIN

This new Contextual Panel flyout panel feature happens to me constantly, and is extremely frustrating.  It was just introduced recently.

My diagrams make extensive use of the AWS objects from the Standard Library.  Every time I select an object that Contextual Panel will fly out from the right edge, regardless of how many times I close it.  There is no view menu option to disable this thing.  I do NOT need to edit the data properties of these objects every time I select one.   When working on a smaller screen, it is especially annoying.

To reproduce, create a new diagram and drop any of those AWS objects from the Standard Library.  It’s likely triggered by others as well.

Please provide a method to disable this panel display.  Most straightforward approach is to make it an optional toggle like the Layers panel.

EDIT - this topic is marked as Solved for some reason, so I will open a new one.

Hi @jeff.farnsworth, thanks for adding to this thread and I’m sorry you’re having trouble here!

I’d recommend selecting the ‘Fullscreen’ button option at the bottom right of your Lucidchart canvas.

Fullscreen option to temporarily disable contextual panel

As shown in the GIF below, dragging AWS shapes onto the canvas automatically opens the contextual panel as you’ve also experienced. To temporarily disable the contextual panel from appearing, you can select the ‘Fullscreen’ option in the bottom right-hand corner of your document. This will allow you to drag AWS shapes onto the canvas without the contextual panel always popping up.

Select fullscreen option to temporarily disable contextual panel and drag AWS shapes onto the canvas

To clarify, completely disabling the contextual panel is not currently supported in Lucid but we’re very interested in your feedback and committed to continually improving our products. Other users have submitted this as product feedback in the post below, in the Product Feedback space of this community! Our product development team is scoping out possibilities with this feature, and we’d love to hear from you if you have further feedback on this! If you’d like, feel free to upvote the post below and add a comment letting the team know what you’d like to see in this experience.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any further questions and I’d be happy to help!
