Colleagues, AI is a great tool, albeit, one that requires some “wrangling” to get it to do something accurate, precise, and what you want. The statement was posed in a recent manufacturing webinar in the context of AI in Manufacturing:
“Are you correctly answering the wrong question?”
Well, are we?
It is ‘fun’ to have Lucid AI create a flowchart or ERD - and can be useful to get started.

However in more complex situations, AI as “augmented intelligence” can be an imperative driver to genuine productivity and value enhancement.

“Augmented Intelligence” requires specialization, with deep capabilities.

General (generative) AI seems to be very ‘creative’ but is a mile wide and an inch deep when it comes to specific or specialized capabilities. Prompt engineering can help. Fine tuning is better where it can be applied.

The promise of ‘agentic AI’ is to some degree that specialization.

My question for this forum and the LucidChart product development team:
How can ‘agentic AI’ be integrated into LucidChart diagram elements, so that ‘specialized intelligence’ can be utilized to create greater productivity in enterprise architecture, process mapping, etc. Futher, can said agents transact information with the outside world to bring event or other information into the model to increase intelligence based on external actors / actions?
one possible use-case would be a process digital twin. A future state process is designed, and presumably implemented. KPI’s are developed, and ‘queried’ in the ‘real world application’, fed back to the diagram, and said diagram updated based on the real-world KPI values?

one simple example might be a IT architecture diagram with a server. The server is conditionally formatted to be ‘RED’ if “off” or ‘GREEN’ if “on”. Status is determined by metadata on the shape object. The metadata is updated by an agent. It could be a simple as a periodic ‘ping’ to the device, and update the attribute.

I would be very interested to  understand the communities interest in this kind of thing, and LucidChart product development road-chart to bring this functionality to bear.

Thanks

Hi John,

In my opinion, connecting a Lucid MCP to other application MCPs is where “agentic Lucid” becomes real.

Lucid becomes the system model + visualization layer, while other MCPs (cloud, CMDB/ITSM, observability, data platforms) provide authoritative state and execution.

Agents read the diagram (intended design), query real telemetry/KPIs, detect drift, and write back updates via metadata + conditional formatting (e.g., health/status overlays), and even open tickets/PRs for remediation.

Looking forward to when we can do this!
