Hi everyone,

I’m trying to use lucid to organize and track content for an online quiz workflow, but I keep running into issues when linking or embedding pages from one of the quiz platforms I follow.

The page I’m working with is part of a daily telenor quiz flow. When I paste links from it into lucid documents or try to preview them inside a board, sometimes the preview fails to load, the page gets blocked, or the content doesn’t refresh even when the quiz updates.

It makes it hard to use lucid as a live reference because I can’t tell if the problem is caused by how that site handles caching, embeds, or security headers, or if it’s something on lucid’s side with link previews and external content.

Has anyone here dealt with similar issues when connecting lucid to external quiz or dynamic-content websites? I’d love to know if there’s a workaround or a better way to keep these kinds of pages synced and visible inside lucid.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi @gareth008, thank you for posting in the Community and thank you @Humas1985 for chiming in!

To add some more context to @Humas1985 excellent insights, link previews and thumbnails are generated using Embedly, which scrapes images from third-party sites. For certain sites, we have custom unfurler extensions to fetch thumbnail details. If a site doesn’t provide the necessary metadata or restricts scraping, a preview may not appear. In these cases, this is expected behavior.

I am sorry for the inconvenience. We are continuously looking for ways to improve our products and your input is the most effective way to achieve that goal. You can post new ideas and feedback in the Lucid Community and these ideas will be shared with our Product Development team for consideration.

Cheers!

Hi @gareth008

Using Lucidchart as a hub for dynamic quiz content works well for basic linking and organization, but live previews of external quiz pages will always be hit-or-miss due to how those sites handle caching and security headers.

For a more reliable setup, treat Lucid as the organizer (links, notes, answers) and rely on web-based or API-driven automation outside Lucid to pull in or refresh the quiz data itself.

Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!
Thank you very much and have a great one!
Warm regards
