Hello,

I'm a new user who just signed up to try your products.

I'm experiencing an issue with Korean input in both Lucidspark and Lucidchart. When I create a new shape in a mind map using Enter or Tab in Lucidspark and immediately start typing in Korean, the first character is always registered as an English letter.

For example, to type "테스트" (the Korean word for "test"), I first press the 'ㅌ' key. However, instead of 'ㅌ', the letter 'x' appears. As a result, what I intended to type as "테스트" shows up as "xㅔ스트" on the screen.

On a standard Korean 2-set (Dubeolsik) keyboard layout, the key for 'ㅌ' is the same as the 'x' key on a QWERTY layout. This indicates that when a new object is created and ready for input, the keyboard is initially set to English mode instead of Korean.

I have confirmed that this same issue occurs in Lucidchart as well.

This seems to be a common problem among web services that utilize keyboard shortcuts, and it appears both Lucidspark and Lucidchart are affected by it.

Could you please let me know how I can resolve this issue?

Hello @Yutak Kim ,

Thank you for posting in the Lucid community! Unfortunately, I was unable to replicate this issue on my end in both Lucidchart and Lucidspark. Could you clarify what browser you are using? For best performance make sure you're using the most recent version of your browser. Additionally, Lucid is optimized for Google Chrome. For best performance, we recommend using Chrome.

Could you try opening your document in a private or incognito window to help us narrow down the potential cause? Could you also try connecting to a different network or disconnecting from your VPN (if applicable)? Sometimes account performance issues can be related to internet security/speed or browser issues. These steps will help us eliminate that possibility. For help with opening an incognito window, please see this community post.

If those don’t resolve the problem, can you please send the following information so I can take a closer look?

  • A screenshot of the issue.
  • A screenshot of the associated Javascript Console output after reproducing the issue. You can open your Javascript Console by pressing Ctrl+Shift+J (if your computer is a Windows/Linux) OR Cmd+Opt+J (if your computer is a Mac).

Below I have attached a GIF of attempting this issue on my end. I am using the 2-set Korean Keybaord.

Thanks in advance for your help and patience!

Hello @jvelasquez

Thank you for your reply.

The problem occurs under the following conditions:

  1. Single-clicking an object and immediately typing in Korean.

  2. Creating a new object using Enter or Tab and immediately typing in Korean.

Looking at the GIF you shared, the text cursor is already active inside the object. In that state, I don't experience the issue either. In other words, if I select an object and then click it again to enter editing mode, it works fine.

The problem only occurs when an object is focused but not yet in editing mode. Even in this "focused" state, typing in English works correctly without any issues.

For your information, I am using Chrome version 141.0.7390.55 (Official Build).

To help you verify the issue, I have attached a GIF that demonstrates the problem.
