This function has always been a bit erratic (often takes an excessively long time to extract). It has however usually worked eventually. Recent attempts have only extracted the first page of the pdf as a thumbnail. This is quite problematic for me as using pdf on the board is a large part of what I want to do. Any advice? It seems like a glitch that needs fixing.

I totally agree - becoming a significant obstacle now...

I’ve realised that the approach to working round this is that I need to wait for the pdf to fully load - click through all the pages to make sure it has - then extract the thumbnails.

I’d still say that getting the pdfs to load is an issue  though. It sometimes fails to even import at all and gives an error message.

I agree. The .pdf file takes an extremely long time to load, and I cannot extract the thumbnails unless the .pdf is very short. I get a message that lucid is scanning for viruses but this process seems to go on for ever.

I've found you have to:

1) wait a minute or so after importing

2)click right arrow to see 2nd page before clicking to extract.

This helps, but still not 100%

Hi @jonkelly, @Karin Groen and @George Drake! Thank you all for your posts and for sharing your experience.

Would you mind providing a bit more details about your experience, that is for instance, how many pages do the PDF files you are importing into Lucid have? Could you also provide these file’s size (MB, GB)?

Finally, could you provide an approximative timeframe during which the document is loading?

Thank you so much for your help and patience!

@zuzi

Thank you for your reply. I have also been in correspondence with your Colleague Eric R about this issue. Eric believes it is a network problem, I have tried several different solutions at this end but don’t seem to be able to solve the issue.

The .pdf I am currently experiencing issues with is 18 pages long and 241kb in size. I don’t think that’s a particularly large document. So far the document has been loading for 12 minutes.

Sometimes the .pdf documents do load, after several tries or after a long time, but this is not reliable and there seems to be no set time as to when the document will load.

When I bring up the script on the page there seem to be a number of error messages. This could be due to the network, but generally I think multiple users are reporting issues with this function so please could the function be reviewed for speed and robustness?

Best,

George
