How to perform a "One Time Import" from SQL Server in Lucid

Could you try opening your document in a private or incognito window to help us narrow down the potential cause? Could you also try connecting to a different network or disconnecting from your VPN (if applicable)? Sometimes account performance issues can be related to internet security/speed or browser issues. These steps will help us eliminate that possibility. For help with opening an incognito window, please see this community post.

If those don’t resolve the problem, can you please send the following information so I can take a closer look?

• A screenshot of the issue.

• A screenshot of the associated Javascript Console output after reproducing the issue. You can open your Javascript Console by pressing Ctrl+Shift+J (if your computer is a Windows/Linux) OR Cmd+Opt+J (if your computer is a Mac).

I’m using a VDI, so don’t have a lot of control over the environment. However a colleague tried disconnecting their laptop from the VPN and using an InPrivate window and got the same result.

To be clear, our understanding when we purchased the Team version of LucidChart was that it included a one-time data import capability, per the pricing sheet:

Indeed, my plan overview indicates there’s “Data syncing and visualization” available:

Thank you so much for sending that information. Unfortunately, I’m going to need a bit more detail to help resolve this issue.

Could you please send a screenshot of the “Import data” button you're selecting. Also, could you provide a technical support PIN? This will allow me to take a closer look at the issue you’re experiencing. Please navigate to your Account Settings to generate this PIN. For more information on generating a Support PIN, check out this Help Center article.

Those instructions don’t match my interface (I don’t have “Account Settings”, only “Settings”, and the Settings page doesn’t have a Support Tickets section). It may be the way my account is set up. I’m waiting for a response from our team admin.

Thank you for sending that screenshot it was very helpful. It looks like you're trying to import data using Data Linking , which is an Enterprise feature. This is why the message keeps appearing every time you click the Import Data button. Since you're currently on a Team subscription, you'll need to use the Shape Library Manager to do this instead. As you mentioned you're trying to import data to create an Entity Relationship Diagram, I've included the steps below which you can find in this Help Center article.

1. Open the Shape Library Manager by clicking More shapes at the bottom of the shape menu.
2. Search for the “Entity Relationship” shape library.
3. Click the checkbox next to “Entity Relationship”.
4. Select Use selected shapes.
5. Click Import from the Entity Relationship shape library.
6. In the import menu, select the Database Management System (DBMS) you use.

   

7. Click Copy to Clipboard to copy the query.
8. Paste and run the query on your database.
9. Select Next.
10. Click Choose File to Import your .CSV, .TSV, or .TXT file.
    • Alternatively, copy and paste the query results in the open text area.
11. Click Import.   

Please give it a try and let me know if you run into any issues.

I tried that method before I reached out for help. The query returns information for four tables in the master schema of what appears to be the root database. The tool only asks for the server, and the instructions don’t say anything about specifying a database on the server. Our database is one of many on the server, and has several schemas, each of which need to be documented. 

If I’ve missed something, please tell me. I’m not a DBA, and have somewhat-rudimentary SQL skills.
