as u can see how do i create a bigger gap within the white boxes and grey boxes or how can i create more spaces between the grey boxes etc

posting here bc admin support wasnt helpful

kindly see how squeeze it is that i cant even do a proper box without cutting some parts out
one more thing is that the org chart lines are so limited, u can either choose to drop down from top or drop down from side but not BOTH! so as per the suggestions he asked me to create my own free lines which i did, but because of the space issue look how crammed it is!

Hi @its sy, thank you for posting your questions in the Lucid Community! For more information, I recommend reviewing this resource from the Lucid Help Center: Org chart customization

To increase spacing between org chart shapes, select the org chart to open the contextual panel. Within the contextual panel, locate the spacing options and adjust the horizontal or vertical spacing to your liking. (shown below)

If you are creating your own shapes, you should be able to drag your individual or grouped shapes to the position that you’d like to increase the spacing.

Please let me know if you are having additional trouble with that and I would be happy to take a closer look.To change the spacing within org chart shapes, you can drag the corner of the shapes as shown below. The same should be true for your own custom shapes.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns!

thanks for getting back to my queries, but what if i would only like to move one part of the org chart instead of the whole org chart structure is it possible? from my understanding any changes made can only be made to the whole structure. kindly advise. thank you

Hi @its sy, thank you for your reply. Are you using a specific org chart template? Would you mind confirming what template you used?

As an example, the below is our ‘Simple org chart’ template. Within this template, you can move individual components and sections, without adjusting the spacing for the entire org chart. The same can be said for some other templates available.

If you are using a data-backed org chart and see this blue border that displays ‘Org Chart’ and opens the contextual panel, note that you’ll be more limited in your layout and spacing capabilities.

yes dear, unfortunately im using this template and i find it so restrictive!

but can you share where do you find your simple org chart template from? i cant seem to find it. is it user friendly? are there any limitations similar to the issues that im facing?

Hi @its sy, thank you for confirming that!

The template you’ve shown in your screenshot uses the same Org Chart style found within our shape library as shown below, which creates an org chart group that works differently than other shapes in Lucid. There are limits on the customization of the org chart layout, positions, and spacing.

I can certainly understand your desire to customize more sections of your org chart. We’re very interested in your feedback and committed to continually improving our products. If you’re willing to share, we’d love to hear more details about what you’re hoping to see! You are welcome to create an idea which will go into the Product Feedback space of this community to collect feature requests and ideas.

If you would like more flexibility, or if you would like to build your own custom org chart, another option would be to use the templates shown below as a starting point. I think these will offer the customization you’re looking for!

You can access these templates at the links below, or by searching ‘org chart’.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns!

Is there a way to no longer use a data-backed org chart but keep the progress you’ve made so far? I’d like to be able to make the layout changes I need to make without losing the shapes, text, and lines I currently have on my chart.

Hi @sdickson, thanks for adding to this thread! Unfortunately, the data and shapes in data-linked org charts can’t be changed or copied into a non-data-linked org chart format without loosing all the data, shape styles, etc.

Is there a specific format your’e hoping for? I would be happy to take a look and see if it’s possible without starting from scratch!
