How to add connector lines in Lucidchart

I think there is some setting turned on ...or off on one page of a LucidChart drawing I’ve created.  There are multiple tabs to the drawing, but this issue is only happening on one tab.  My cursor looks like a star of four arrows versus a pointer tool and I can’t figure out what I’ve turned on or off.

I can’t draw lines between boxes.

@Kelsey Gaag  and @A Beaver  there is a global document setting that I somehow had changed to turn off the line settings randomly at some point and I don’t know how.  Despite that, the actual solution here is very simple

File > Settings > Document Settings > Line > Line connections needs to be enabled

Maybe we need to do a Zoom meeting because I have ZERO control over this flow ...adding lines, trying to copy large sections of the flow to cut or copy and paste somewhere else.  I don’t want to have to rebuild this thing but as it sits today it is useless to me and I don’t want a repeat of this on any other flow.

My email is abeaver@humana.com if you want to contact me privately.

Thank you!

Hi @A Beaver

I’m not seeing the same issues you are on my end, and I apologize but currently our Support Team doesn’t take calls over zoom. Could you try opening your document in a private or incognito window to help us narrow down the potential cause? Could you also try connecting to a different network or disconnecting from your VPN (if applicable)? Sometimes account performance issues can be related to internet security/speed or browser issues. These steps will help us eliminate that possibility. For help with opening an incognito window, please see this community post (in English).

@eblackburn Thank you for sharing that solution!

Just a note this same thing happened to me a few days ago. Working like normal then suddenly lines stop working - I go and check this global setting and it is off. Thanks @eblackburn for sharing but @Kelsey Gaag this seems to have been randomly flipped for some of us. Maybe a bug?

Hi @Laffoon

Thank you for sharing your experience! I have brought this issue up internally with our teams to see if any work on the backend might have triggered this change. Thank you for pointing this out!

Found a new scenario. If I have two components that support lines, once I group them then I can no longer use lines on them. That seems really weird and like a bug to me.

Note, the lines I already have work. I just don’t get the dots around the grouped control to make new lines. If I make a line on a non-grouped control and drag it to a grouped control, it tries to connect to an individual item in the group just fine.

So, the grouping logic knows about line connections when a line is being connected to them. The logic for creating lines as a starting point from a grouped item is bugged. So, if I want to connected two different group sets, I can’t unless I un-group one of them.
