I wanted the shape that I reference below but I wanted to:
have line/arrow connection points
be able to use data to manipulate the text.
Creating a group; which is a circle on top of a rectangle gives me the ability to manipulate the text via the data feature. But groups don’t have line connection points Downloading the shape as an SVG allow me to have connection points but it doesn’t allow me to use data for the text
Is there a solution that gives me both features?

Hi @rowan.smith,
I recreated your shape and group them as usual (Right click → Group), and I was able to use the connection point as usual.
Just put your cursor on the line (in Windows wait until it becomes a plus sign), and then click once. This will show the connection dots.
And once you drag the line (from any starting point) and release it, it will give you the next shapes options.
Hope this helps.
Catherine
Hello @Catherine Fahidin thank you for your reply and apologies for my slow response.
Please see my screen recording that highlights the issue with a grouped shape not having connection points on hover. You have to drag a arrow from another shape rather than for it to originate from the grouped shape.
Hello @rowan.smith ,
Sorry for the very slow reply. I understand your frustration, and in this case, you just need to hover your cursor on the line for a few seconds. The trick is, you can’t have the ‘square box with the circles at the corners’ around the shape showed up before, so make sure there’s no square box, and then put your cursor right at the line itself. See my video below. Hope this helps.
Thanks @Catherine Fahidin do you think this is consistent behaviour? Between a “normal” shape and a grouped shape?
Hi @rowan.smith,
Thank you for the reply! I looked into this on my end and found that this behavior only occurs with grouped shapes.
