I have created a template and at some point I have selected that users of the template should not be able to unlock locked objects. How do I undo this? I want them to be able to unlock the objects I have locked.

Hi @harald

When creating a template, you can set restrictions on unlocking locked objects.

To delegate, this setting can be modified later by editing the template's settings. To grant users the ability to unlock objects, simply open the existing template, navigate to the Locking settings, uncheck the "Prevent viewers from unlocking locked objects" option, and save the changes.

It's essential to double-check the lock settings before publishing templates to avoid user frustration. If you need to locate the template, you can find it in your team hub, update the settings, and republish or reshare as necessary.

Where do I find the locking settings? If possible, could you please share screenshots?

Thank you!

Hi @Humas1985 , thanks, but my template is a template already. I’ve converted it from a Lucidboard from a template and when I did that, I disallowed the users from unlocking objects. How do I undo that?

Hi @harald

The recommendation here is that, you have to rely on creating a duplicate / create new template which requires with the restrictive setting disabled

Best Regards

You mean to tell me that if I created 20 document already I have to recreate them because you don’t have the functionality to edit an already created template?  Seriously?  Just when I start thinking I don’t need Visio anymore I find another completely think about Lucid that causes me more work.

Hi @tsimmon8

Thanks for responding to this post! I apologize for the confusion here. It is possible to edit an already created template, and I’m happy to walk you through the steps:

  1. Hover over your template in your docs list.
  2. Click on the 3-dot menu.
  3. Click “Edit template.”

Following these steps will allow you to edit an already created template instead of having to recreate them. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or run into any issues with this!
