I have a guest collaborator that made a comment and left the Lucid board, however, when they come back in, Lucid recognizes them as a new guest collaborator and won’t allow them to edit/delete the comment they made. Is there any way to delete those comments?

Hi @vseith

Guest collaborators can leave comments, but if Lucid recognizes them as a new guest (due to a different session ID, for example), they may not be able to edit or delete their previous comments. Here’s how you can handle this situation:

  1. Delete as the Owner/Editor of the Board

    • As the owner or editor of the Lucid board, you have the ability to manage all comments, including those made by guest collaborators.
    • Locate the comment by clicking on it or navigating to the Comments panel (usually found in the right-hand sidebar or through the toolbar).
    • Click the three dots (ellipsis) next to the comment and select Delete.
  2. Reassign Ownership (Optional)

    • If you want the original guest collaborator to manage their comments, invite them back using the same email address they initially used. This ensures Lucid recognizes them as the same user.
  3. Duplicate the Board (if Ownership Transfer Fails)

    • If you can't resolve the guest identity mismatch, you can duplicate the board and remove the comment in the new copy.
    • To duplicate: Go to File > Make a Copy, and then delete the unwanted comment from the copied version.

Best Practices to Avoid This Issue in the Future

  • Ask collaborators to create a Lucid account and sign in before accessing the board. This ensures their activity is always associated with their account.
  • Adjust the board's sharing settings to provide "edit access" only to collaborators with accounts and restrict guest access.

Hope this helps!
