Hi Alison,

We need to create a number of mind maps where we can collapse and expand the maps, currently in Lucid we are no capable of doing this vertically and not horizontally like your competitor xmind.

This is a major issue as many MS customers are therefore using xmind as it creates mind maps which can run horizontally, is there anyway you can enhance the mind maps to allow this? I can send you an example of this helps?

I work on many case mgt solutions at different client sites and this is an issue every time, if you could develop this it would make your product the favourite to use, currently we are forced to use lucid as this is the clients approved app for this, however this is not always the case so we tend to go with xmind.

I believe this feedback has been sent previously. We create complex mind maps for customers case mgt solutions and we need to show the mind map horizontally and not vertically.

thanks

Sam

Hi @samb, thank you for your response and for sharing your feedback!

I completely understand how important layout flexibility is when managing complex case management solutions.

It is possible to create vertical and horizontal mind maps within Lucid! Based on your description, I want to make sure we are on the same page regarding the layout you need.

I’ve included a screenshot below showing both the Horizontal and Vertical options available in our Mind Map tool. You can switch between these by selecting the root node and using the Layout options in the panel on the right-hand side.

Horizontal & Vertical Layout Options

To ensure I’m giving you the best guidance, could you clarify a couple of things?

  • Directional Flow: When you mentioned needing a horizontal map (but noted it was currently vertical), are you looking for the map to flow from Left-to-Right, or from Top-to-Bottom?

  • Collapsing Nodes: Are you able to see the "+" and "-" icons on the nodes in your current maps? These allow you to collapse and expand branches to keep complex maps manageable.

Please let me know if you have any further questions! If you have that example from XMind handy, please do send it over! I’d love to compare it to our current capabilities to ensure there isn't a specific functionality gap I'm missing. Thank you!
