Been using LucidChart for about 4 years.  In the latest updates it’s become frustrating and difficult to highlight a connection point.  Mouse clicks are heavily biased towards dragging the shape rather than originating a line -- to the point that I often have to draw the reverse of the line I want then reverse the arrows.

Something’s changed … is there a way to shift modes?  Hovering doesn’t work, and often the connection points are obscured by mouse pointer

Hi @Robert P102, thanks for posting in the Lucid Community! Sorry for the trouble here and I’m happy to help!

When you mention “I often have to draw the reverse of the line I want then reverse the arrows”, would you mind confirming whether you are having to manually add lines using the line shape in the standard shape library shown below?

When you mention “hovering doesn’t work”, are you unable to see these purple line connections when hovering over a shape?

If you’re unable to see those purple line connections when hovering over a shape, I recommend selecting View > and ensuring that Enable line connections is checked on.

One last thing that might be worth noting and could help - In your board settings, I would recommend ensuring your navigation mode is correctly set to ‘trackpad’ or ‘mouse’.

If the above recommendations do not resolve this, would you mind providing me with a screenshot or screen recording reproducing the behavior you’re seeing? This will help me better understand what may be happening and provide additional assistance.

Please let me know if you have additional questions! Happy to continue digging into this.

Thanks:

  1. No, not creating lines from scratch, trying to draw them from an object to an object
  2. The Enable Line Connections was enabled
  3. However the navigation mode was set to Trackpad rather than mouse

Updating navmode to mouse helps some … there are two cursors involved in hovering … a “plus” icon with arrows on each terminus of the plus which indicates a “move the object” mode, and a “plus” icon that is thinner with no arrows on the terminals.

The issue was/is? that in a diagram of any detail, the amount of motion to get the smaller + for connections is *tiny* and was almost impossible to get the smaller +

Changing the navigation mode to mouse does seem to help some.  It’s still difficult on a small diagram, but not as impossible as before.  Still, there has to be a better way.  Perhaps a time delay on one mode or the other on hover?

Thanks for the tip on Navigation Mode, it seems workable now.

Hi @Robert P102, thank you for confirming those details. I’m happy to hear that changing the navigation mode helped some.

I can see how accessing the smaller/thinner plus icon may be difficult in diagrams with many details. Are you having a difficult time adding a line due to this? Would you mind providing me with a screen recording replicating this? Sorry for the hassle - this will help me to take a closer look and determine if there’s another solution.

Thanks for your help and patience!
