Creating a process diagram from CSV import and nothing happens

Try as I might, when I upload my CSV as per https://help.lucid.co/hc/en-us/articles/15927090927508-Create-a-process-diagram-from-CSV-import instructions, nothing happens.

I have compared my csv with the one provided as exemple, and I see no difference, even using Visual Studio Code.
I would really like to learn how to properly use this function, so any help on solving the matter would be appreciated.
I do not know how to share my CSV, so here is the code below :

Hey @gilles -- thanks for the reply! I would recommend creating the diagram you’d like then download that as a CSV file. Check through the file and compare it to the CSV you’ve created to determine what exactly the differences are and what could be causing this discrepancy.

Hope this helps -- let us know if this doesn’t work for you or if you have any other questions!

Hi @ekarnivoris, thank you for adding to this thread! Would you mind attempting to import your CSV file in an incognito window? Additionally, were you able to create the diagram you’d like then download that as a CSV file to compare it to the CSV you’ve created to determine what exactly the differences are and what could be causing this discrepancy? I appreciate your help and patience!

I am having the same issue.  The example works fine,  If I even change one piece of text on the example it loads incorrectly.  I’m working on a mac on the latest Sequoia update.

Hi @pegsmum, thanks for adding to this thread! Can you confirm which piece of text in the example you are changing and what this causes Lucid to produce for you? It is worth noting that this is an experimental feature, so some functionality may not work as expected. I appreciate your help and patience!

This is still an issue more than one year later. I am having the same issue (Enterprise). Reported a bug.

Hi @nickd, thank you for adding your report to this thread. I’m sorry you are having trouble with this and I’m happy to help.

First, could you attempt the CSV import in a private or incognito window? For help with opening an incognito window, please see this community post.

Could you also try connecting to a different network or disconnecting from your VPN (if applicable)? Sometimes account performance issues can be related to internet security/speed or browser issues. These steps will help us eliminate that possibility.

If you’re still running into problems, would you mind confirming that the data in your CSV file meets the requirements below, as described in this article?

To view an example of properly formatted data, click here to download a sample .csv file and reference this article.

Thanks in advance for your help and patience!

I am running into this issue as well - where I can use the same process with the sample file and it imports fine, however when using my own generated csv (tested from python generated and from gsheet - exporting to CSV…
I did a compare and contrast between my doc and the sample:

Detail Sales Example Our Generated CSV Impact
Row Order Nodes first, then connections ✔ Same in both ✅ Required — we matched it
Column Names Exact casing, order, no extras ✔ Matched identically ✅ Must be exact
Shape Names "Terminator", "Process" ✔ Used same ✅ Critical for rendering
Shape Library "Flowchart Shapes" ✔ Used same ✅ Must match built-in library names
Missing Fields Empty columns still preserved ✔ Preserved with NaN/empty ✅ Needed to avoid import rejection
Start/End IDs Uses explicit Terminator nodes ✔ Matched ✅ Helps trigger initial layout logic
CSV Encoding Google Sheets export (UTF-8, CRLF) Python default (UTF-8, LF) ❗ May break older or picky importers
Hidden Metadata Possibly includes hidden formatting ❌ Ours is clean/pure text

⚠️ Lucid may use internal flags

So i leveraged the sample and injected my values using python to generate and was able to get partial import to work just no connectors.

Close - but something is off - if the PM wants to reach out maybe we can talk to get this solved.

In the world of automation - this is going to be a much needed capability - my only other thought is to leverage an API that can work w json output as an alternative.

Hi @garywlala, thanks for adding to this thread and providing these details. Sorry you’re running into issues here but I’m happy to take a look.

Just to clarify - are you creating your dataset in Google Sheet and then exporting to a CSV?

Just a note - sometimes process diagrams created from CSV imports don’t appear exactly as expected. In some cases, particularly with complex datasets, you may notice overlapping lines, shapes, or text. This is further explained here. Is that what you’re experiencing here?

hello, I’m encountering the same bug since I’m trying to upload a csv file following the sample but nothing happens when I click on Import.

Hi @developluto, thank you for adding to this thread. I’m sorry that you’re encountering trouble here. I’m happy to take a closer look at this!

First would you mind confirming whether the below two steps solve this for you? Sometimes account performance issues can be related to internet security/speed or browser issues. These steps will help us eliminate that possibility.

  • Could you attempt the CSV import in a private or incognito window? For help with opening an incognito window, please see this community post.
  • Could you also try connecting to a different network or disconnecting from your VPN (if applicable)?

If the above two steps to not resolve this for you, would you mind confirming that the data in your CSV file meets the requirements below, as described in this article?

Thanks for your help and patience here!
