Hello, I added some code block objects to my document yesterday to find that they had disappeared today when I opened the chart again. As I understand, the documents auto save so I believe this is a bug. It’s a bit annoying as now I have to make a bunch of code blocks again. Anyone else experience this? How do I avoid this happening again? Should I just not use the blocks? Thanks.

Hi @barry_charting_07,

Thank you for your response and for providing the support pin and console output! Could you try the following steps below to further troubleshoot this issue and narrow down the cause?

  • Taking a look at your document, it looks like it is in the 95th percentile of all Lucid documents. The large size of your document could be causing these performance issues. Are you able to break up your document in to smaller documents? This can be done by copying and pasting the content into a new document or importing a Lucidchart page into another document.
  • Could you try duplicating the document to remove any background data and revision history? Please note that comments do not carry over to a copy of a document.
  • Looking at your console logs, the “err_blocked_by_client_” messages suggest that a browser extension (like an ad-blocker) or a network security setting is stopping the Code Block scripts from loading. If you haven’t already, could you try opening this document in an Incognito window? For help with opening an incognito window, please see this community post.
  • If the issue persists after trying the steps above, could you (or your IT team)  allow the following wildcard domains (whitelist) linked in this Lucid Help Center article?

Thank you for your help and patience as we investigate further!

Ok, update: I went on to make code blocks again and as soon as I pressed the button, all of my previous blocks “re-spawned” so I guess it’s fine now? Still a bug? Before this, I couldn’t even select the old blocks so it’s not like they were just hidden. Maybe this is intended. Let me know!

Hi @barry_charting_07,

Thank you for posting in the Lucid Community and for providing an update here!

The behavior you are seeing is definitely unexpected. Would you mind attempting the following steps below so our team can rule out a few key performance issues and narrow down the root cause of the issue you’re experiencing?

  • Could you try opening your document in a private or incognito window to help us narrow down the potential cause? Sometimes account performance issues can be related to internet security/speed or browser issues. For help with opening an incognito window, please see this community post
  • Could you try clearing your browser cache? Sometimes a cache issue can cause specific script heavy objects (like code blocks) to fail.
  • It is possible that WebGL is causing an issue with your graphics card. Try turning WebGL off by going to View > Rendering > Use WebGL and unchecking the option.
  • If you are on a Team or Enterprise account, you can also check the Revision history to restore a version from when the blocks were visible.

Let me know if you run into any issues or have any other questions. I’m happy to help!

Hello,

I’ve tried all these options and none have worked. I opened up my document this morning and ALL of my code blocks have been removed and I’m incapable of getting them back. They were not especially big either — 5-6 lines of code on average. This is a real shame for me as I have to make all of them over again or just not use the code block feature entirely. And yes, I’ve also tried on different browsers.

Hi @barry_charting_07,

Thank you for your response and for attempting those steps. Would you mind replying with the following so I can investigate this issue further?

  • A screenshot of the issue.

  • A screenshot of the associated Javascript Console output after reproducing the issue. You can open your Javascript Console by pressing Ctrl+Shift+J (if your computer is a Windows/Linux) OR Cmd+Opt+J (if your computer is a Mac).

  • Could you share a temporary Document Support PIN for this document? This will help me take a closer look at what’s going on. This PIN is safe to post in this thread because it is only accessible by members of the Lucid support staff. You can find steps for generating a Support PIN in this Lucid Help Center article: Generate a Lucid Support PIN.

Thank you for your help and patience as we narrow down the cause!

I’m starting to think they aren’t loading because I have too many objects in my document. I tried testing with a new document with 5 code blocks and it loads every time.

Screenshot of part of the document with code blocks, it’s empty as the blocks disappeared:
