I am traying to add objects to layers in my doc, I have created a context layer for my org chart, and have successfully added a couple of objects to my “Context” layer. I am trying to add a set of 4 smart containers, following the same process as the other objects: right click > Copy or move content, but the layers option does not show up. (see screen shot).

When I select just 1 of the 4 smart containers, and follow the same process, the Layer options shows on the drop down but is greyed out:

Please help.

Hi @Rob from Redgate

Smart containers in have layering restrictions because they function as special grouped elements. You cannot assign the container itself to a layer, only the objects inside it. If the layering option is greyed out or missing, ensure each container is unlocked first. To mitigate, you can use standard container shapes from the Flowchart library, which support multi-level grouping and freer layer control. This enables better organization where smart containers native layering is limited.

Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!
Thank you very much and have a great one!
Warm regards

Thanks Humas, a shame you cannot use the smart containers as the ability to quickly add objects (I am using to track tasts) is very handy. But I cannot see how to do this with regular containers. I have just moved them to a spearate tab instead.

Cheers!
