Hello team,

UX research provides unique insights into users’ pain points, preferences, attitudes, and behaviors. What methods and techniques do you use, and how do they help you create truly user-centered products?

Here are some of the most common UX research methods and techniques. This is not an exhaustive list, so feel free to chime in and add any methods or techniques you think are missing.

Methods  Techniques
Qualitative User Interviews
Quantitative Field Studies

Behavioral Surveys
Generative Card Sorting
Evaluative Usability Testing

Hi @Flavia D

As far as qualitative methods go, I have found that User interviews are highly effective for exploratory research, understanding user personas, and validating assumptions - I think it is most helpful in uncovering nuanced insights that might not be captured through surveys or observational methods. Cart sorting works well too, particularly for site navigation and user flow. I think that focus groups aren’t really effective based on my experience - users tend to feed off other contributions and not really speak from their viewpoints - as they’re prone to groupthink.

I also like A/B testing for fine tuning specific elements or improving user experiences and conversion rates.
