I am making org charts for a large organisation and I want them to update who staff report to as soon as that changes in Excel. Can this work?

Hi @DocBrown,

There is an update on Two-way sync: Lucid and Google/Microsoft are automatically synced to each other. Changes in one update the data in the other. The update can also be found on this Community post below:

As I was looking at that post I linked here, I saw your most recent comment/question and am happy to respond here in this thread!

“I found this thread and am trying to use a data set in Microsoft Excel 365 to have a two way linkage. I added the beta, but when I go to connect it says it cannot find my microsoft account, can you please assist?”

  • First, have you tried reaching out to your Microsoft admin? They may need to grant Lucid access to your Microsoft account. You can find more information on our Lucid Help Center Article: Link Data to a Lucidchart document?
  • Can you confirm the spreadsheet you are currently working in is hosted on an Enterprise account? The two-way sync feature is only available on Enterprise level accounts, and I want to make sure you are logged in to the correct account.
  • Before using two-way sync for the first time, you need to connect to the Lucid Microsoft 365 Excel Integration from the Lucid integrations marketplace. Have you already done this step?

If you have followed these steps and are still unable to find your Microsoft account, could you try opening your document in a private or incognito window to help us narrow down the potential cause? For help with opening an incognito window, please see this community post. Let me know if you have additional questions!

Hi @luke v thank you for posting in the community! Unfortunately there isn't currently a way to automatically update org charts in Lucidchart. If you imported your data from Google Sheets you can easily use the "Refresh Dataset" button to quickly update your org chart however if you are using an Excel file you will need to replace the dataset with the new version or overlay a new dataset.

For more information I recommend taking a look at the Manage data section of our Org Chart article
