Support Lucid documents ignoring ctrl+s

Every program uses Ctrl+s for save and my fingers have learned to hit it after every major change, because that’s what I do in every program I use, except now Lucid, which brings up a dialog and that dialog doesn’t even respond to the escape key, so I have to stop and go grab my mouse to put it away.  Argh!  What’s wrong with ctrl+shift+s or anything else.  I know I don’t have to hit save in Lucid, but that’s just not the way I work, I hit ctrl+s.

Hi @sgartner, thank you for posting in the Lucid Community! Unfortunately, selecting ctrl + s to save isn’t currently supported in Lucid. Instead, your Lucid documents save automatically when you’re online. But we’re very interested in your feedback and committed to continually improving our products. I can certainly understand why this is important to you.

I’ve converted this post to an idea so that it’s visible to others within the Product Feedback section of the community - from here, they can upvote it and add details of their own.

Hello,

I agree that Ctrl+S / Command+S should not be overridden. Even though Lucid auto-saves my changes, muscle memory has me pressing Command+S after nearly every edit. Reassigning that shortcut to trigger a modal disrupts my workflow significantly.

Please consider mapping the share functionality to a different key combination.

Thanks.

@Ambar D,

Thanks for moving my suggestion to the right place.  I don’t think the title is reflective of my suggestion, I don’t care if ctrl+s saves the document or not, what I care about is the shortcut doing something *other* than save the document.  It’s a key lots of people undoubtedly hit without thinking, so it would be better for it to be completely ignored than bring up a modal dialog (or something else unexpected).

@Ambar D,

I was hoping you would update the subject of this so that more people might read it and support the suggestion.  As it is, people might very well skip it since they *know* you don’t have to save in Lucid and make an assumption that the thread is about something they won’t care about.

My suggestion would be, “Support Lucid Documents ignoring ctrl+s” or something similar.  I can’t change it, and maybe you can’t either, but if you can I think it would be great.

Thanks either way,

Scott

Hi @sgartner, I very much like your suggestion here! I’ve actually gone ahead and updated the title of this again to better reflect the ask here and ensure we have this properly documented and searchable. Thanks again for taking the time to leave your feedback!

Chiming in here.  Ctrl+S is a natural thing I do every 15 - 20s of work.
This modal that appears is infuriating, and actually has nothing to do with saving.  No-one associates Ctrl-S with “sharing”.

Please, for the love of Zeus, either disable this modal, or configure it so that it is disable-able.

I can’t undo 30 years of muscle memory for this ONE application that goes against the natural grain of things.
