Dear support!
I am trying to find a measure tool in Lucid that helps getting the proper measurements of rooms objects walls and distances - but I cannot find one in your software. To plan my house with 3 levels this is one of the most important tools - can you help me please?
Thanks and kind regards Uli
Thanks for posting! Please see our Floorplan Tools Help Center article to learn about the measurement tools we provide. If this does not fit your needs can you please reply and explain in more detail what you are trying to accomplish?
Hello
I saw this after googling around. I design office floor plans for quoting furniture to customers. I’m moving over from Visio 95 and it had a tool that I could drag to measure distance and give a number.
How I used that was say I had to put two desks or cubicles near each other in a given room. I could use the Visio tool to click between the two objects and it would show a distance on the screen and printouts for the customers to see. It would look something like: |———- 4’————|
The only way I can figure how to do this is to drag another wall segment to the floor plan and explain that this wall is just there to show the space between these two things. It gets a little confusing to the customer.
I know there is a scale but customers aren’t busting out their rulers and math skills to figure out a given distance. I also know I can drop a line and give it a label with the distance but I have to drop a wall in first and drag it around to work out what that distance is first then remove the wall add the line add the text.
I used to be able to do this in a program that I still have the 3.5” floppies for it’s so old can I do this with a modern program?
Hi Bob thanks for continuing this thread. Unfortunately a tool for measuring distance is still unsupported in Lucidchart; I believe the best alternative to a wall is the workaround you described with the line. I definitely understand though how this would be a great improvement in efficiency and ease of use for you and your customers.

Hi Micah
I can’t really think of any other feature at the moment I’ve only just started really getting into it though. The measurement tool is a big one to me everything else I have had issue with was mostly just learning the different way of doing it Lucid Chart. Overall I like that I can quickly bring together an office floor plan and demonstrate some concepts onsite with the customer (the measurement tool notwithstanding). Like anything I can get lost in time putting together all the little details - but the fact that I can also makes the software nice as well.
I’ve earned that the Apple Pencil is a near must to use with the iPad app since my figures seem to want to tap on the wrong thing or drag the thing too far. Which is fine by me since I already had one it gives me a good reason to use that pricy little thing.
Hi Bob thanks for the additional detail and feedback - super helpful! As you continue to work in Lucidchart we'd love to hear more about your experiences if there's anything else that you'd find helpful or if we can do anything to support your work.

When is this going to be a thing? The measurement tool is important to measure space between items

Looks like this has been an ‘idea’ for a long time. A quick and easy measuring tool for designs is important so you can be assured to meet all rules and regulations. Is there a guide to performing this with the current tools available?
Hi

You can enable this by right-clicking on any wall and choosing Total length in the Wall Options menu:

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have additional questions.
