Hi not sure if this is a bug

But when generating a sequence diagram I notice after creating the initial query if creates fine but when it suggests updates (eg add error handling etc) or I ask it to udpate anything the AI is not able to update its own work.

Can this be addressed as it makes complex diagrams easier to do manually.

Hi @Timmy G, thanks for your patience on this while I checked with our product team!

At this time, editing sequence diagrams with Lucid AI is not currently fully supported, but we’re very interested in your feedback and committed to continually improving our products. I’ve shared your feedback here directly with our product team over this feature!

They did recommend asking Lucid AI to regenerate the diagram with a new prompt that includes your requested changes, which may help you implement the edits. While I know this is not what you may be hoping for, I do hope it helps for now!

I’ve gone ahead and converted this post to the Product Feedback section of this community. This will also allow other users with similar requests to discover and upvote it. We encourage anyone else who’s interested in this to upvote this post and share any additional details about your use case or what you’d like to see in this experience.

Hi @Timmy G,

Thank you for posting in the Lucid Community!

In order to take a closer look at the issue you’re experiencing with generating your sequence diagram, could you please answer the following questions:

  • It sounds like you have created a sequence diagram with markup in Lucidchart, is that correct? Have you manually adjusted or ungrouped your diagram on the canvas? You can edit the markup of a diagram you have already built, as long as you have not manually adjusted or ungrouped the diagram on the canvas. If you click on your diagram, the sequence markup dialogue will appear on the left side of the editor, and you will be able to make any updates and changes there.

If the issue persists, could you try opening your document in a private or incognito window to help us narrow down the potential cause? Could you also try connecting to a different network or disconnecting from your VPN (if applicable)? Sometimes account performance issues can be related to internet security/speed or browser issues. These steps will help us eliminate that possibility. For help with opening an incognito window, please see this community post.

If those don’t resolve the problem, can you please send the following information so I can take a closer look?

  • A screenshot of the issue.

  • A screenshot of the associated Javascript Console output after reproducing the issue. You can open your Javascript Console by pressing Ctrl+Shift+J (if your computer is a Windows/Linux) OR Cmd+Opt+J (if your computer is a Mac).

Thanks in advance for your help and patience!

Hi Alison

It was done using LucidAI.

  • no manipulation of the generated diagram occured
  • After creation the AI asked me if I would like to expand the fail scenario (picked up the positive only branch present
    • upon saying yes and add in the fail scenario it then failed to update.
    • it then created a copy of the same diagram over the top and failed to update that as well

To all intents and purposes it appeared to not be able to edit its own generated diagram.

(eventually I just degrouped it an manually updated the missing branch but did limit the effectiveness of the ai as requires a complete in one query approach if want it fully ai generated (and then you cant modify it later without storing your original query as opposed to just asking ai to update the diagram)

Hi @Timmy G, jumping in here for Alison!

Do you by chance have a screenshot of your prompt, or perhaps an idea of what your prompt was to edit?

Could you share a temporary Document Support PIN for this document? This will help me take a closer look at your diagram. This PIN is safe to post in this thread because it is only accessible by members of the Lucid support staff. You can find steps for generating a Support PIN in this Lucid Help Center article: Generate a Lucid Support PIN.

Thank you for your help and patience.

Unfortunately no as I ‘degrouped it’ I didnt bother saving the query at time of create.

But I can likely recreate a generic one so will post one (likely in a day or 2 mid major release at moment)

I’ll @ you both once its ready given there’ll be a delay.

Cheers guys

Tim
