Hi,

Looked at this thread and I am looking for something similar

The client I am working for require the final version of the document/diagram to be download in Lucidchart raw format and stored in their document repository. This allows people who would work on the diagram later to import it back into Lucidchart and make changes to it.

They were previously using export as Visio but now with less use of visio and more use of lucidchart, they want to move away from that model. Is there any feature in the pipleline to export lucidchart diagram in a raw format which can then be imported back into lucidcharts? Similar to backup and restore feature but allow it to be done on a single document.

thanks,

abk

Hi @abk, thank you for posting in the Lucid Community! Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback on this.

I know this isn’t what you’re hoping for, but I’d like to first mention the option to export a CSV of shape data associated with your Lucidchart document. For Lucidscale documents, you can also export JSON data. For more information on those two points, I recommend this resource

Unfortunately, as you’ve likely discovered, this isn’t currently supported via our API either. Exporting to CSV is not supported via API and neither is the JSON export option. For more information on what is available via API, I do recommend checking out our Lucid for Developers group in the community.

Thank you again for your feedback on this, and I can certainly understand why this is important!

While I don’t currently have an update to provide on the status of this feature, I can assure you that our product teams are often reviewing feedback within this space as they continue to research product enhancements.

We encourage anyone else who’s interested in this to upvote this post and share any additional details about your use case or what you’d like to see in this experience. For more information about how we manage feedback in this community, please take a look at this post:

What happens to my feedback?

hi @Ambar D,

thanks for your response. If I export it as CSV, I couldn’t find a way to import it back into Lucidchart?

cheers
