I have built a mind-map and would like to copy a node and its child nodes to another node.   When I do so by selecting the node I want to copy and do Ctrl+C and then paste using Ctrl+V, it copies the entire map, not just the desired node.

Can this be done?

Hi @Paul Bement
Thank you for posting in the Lucid Community! Copying a section of the mind map, copies the whole diagram. I would recommend selecting the nodes you’d like to move and transferring them to another branch, instead of copying and pasting.

You can select multiple nodes by selecting one, holding the shift key, and selecting another node. Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Thank you for the reply.  It looks like transferring is moving the node.  I am trying to duplicate nodes that exist in another branch instead of having to re-create the node manually.  Any insight on how to duplicate a node?

Hi @Paul Bement

Thank you for the reply! When copying anything from the Mind Map, it copies the whole template.

Unfortunately, there is currently not a way to copy and paste nodes without copying the Mind Map, but we’re very interested in your feedback and committed to continually improving our products. If you’re willing to share, we’d love to hear more details about your use case or what you’d like to see in this experience within this thread. I’ve also converted this post to an idea so that it’s visible to others within the Product Feedback section of the community - from here, they can upvote it and add details of their own.

Sure.   This may not be a purist use of a mind map but I like to use them to quickly lay out hierarchical relationships between items.

In the current use case, I am creating an IT Service Desk incident and service request categorization layout.

When a ticket comes in, an agent can quickly categorize the nature of the incident or service request.  End-users select a general category; the agent can further describe the nature of the issue using sub-categories.

There are similarities between subcategories for incidents and service requests and as a time saving measure, it would be good to be able to copy a branch from one part of the map to another vs. having to retype the branch.
