Stop writing code just to get your document data! Our new JSON Export feature gives you the power of an API without the technical overhead. You can now download a full blueprint of any Lucid document as a JSON file directly from the file menu in your workspace.  Whether you're conducting an audit or feeding data into a custom database, you now have instant access to your document's underlying structure.

What’s New?

You can now export any Lucid document as a JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) file. This provides a complete, text-based blueprint of your document that you can download in seconds.

Why This Matters:

  • No Code, No Problem: Get the power of the API without writing a single line of code.
  • Portable Blueprints: Perfect for internal audits or keeping a lightweight, offline record of your complex workflows.
  • Total Flexibility: Easily move your document data into other internal tools or databases for custom analysis.

Try this feature out by going to

More menu > Export > JSON. For more information, check out this Help Center article.

I noticed that there is no obvious way to import this into Lucid to continue working on the graph.

Is that supported?

Hey Walt, this feature is primarily focused on getting the JSON out of the canvas. We are considering other opportunities around import but there is no solid timeline on that yet!

Requesting support for bidirectional JSON support. If export is supported then We should get Import working. Is there any reason why there is no clear timeline for supporting the import direction when export is already implemented? 🤔
