During your upcoming move to organizational groups in Lucid, your existing groups will be maintained in the following ways:

  1. The entire group structure from the previous experience will be brought over under a “Groups (Sharing)” folder.
  2. Primary group members will be moved over as corresponding organizational group members.
  3. Group admins will become organizational group admins.

All updates are limited to account management, so functionality within the Lucid platform won’t be interrupted for users. Read on for more details about how existing groups will be maintained.

Groups structure: Groups from the previous experience will be brought over under a “Groups (Sharing)” folder used only for sharing purposes, and all licensing will be through organizational groups. For instructions on accessing and managing your organizational groups for licensing, as well as how to leverage Groups (Sharing) moving forward, reference our Lucid admin panel: Group management article.

Primary group membership: Any users assigned a primary group will be assigned to a corresponding organizational group. Organizational groups will be created with the same names as your existing primary groups with the same members. Any licensed users without a primary group will still be migrated but will be assigned to a default organizational group. Because organizational groups are used for licensing, whereas groups previously weren’t, users can only belong to one organizational group.

Group admins: Any previously assigned group admins on your account will be migrated to the organizational group admin role. This will allow them to continue managing user settings and licenses for their assigned organizational groups. As mentioned above, because organizational groups are used for licensing, only primary group membership will be preserved, so the overall number of members in an organizational group may differ.

To learn more about this admin role, such as how to assign users to org groups and manage users, refer to our Lucid admin panel: Administrator roles article.

Note: If you previously used allotments for licensing users in groups, this functionality has been replaced with license limits for organizational groups. Check out this community post for specifics on what has changed in terms of how these numbers are represented in Lucid.
