I need to freely move elements imported from AWS in a model. The only thing I see is changing current behaviour is "group non-container items" but still I can not move them freely.

When I try to move the object returns back to the group

Hi @martin.dimov

When importing AWS resources into Lucidscale, Lucidchart's cloud architecture product, non-container items are automatically organized within containers to mirror the AWS structure. However, these grouping limits flexibility, causing items to revert to their original position.

  • To freely rearrange items, simply ungroup or detach them from containers by "Ungroup" from containe0. Else, disabling the "Group non-container items" option during import prevents automatic grouping, and unlocking any locked containers ensures seamless movement.

Artile helps to understand, and you can also upon a need, manually customize your architecture while maintaining the accuracy of your AWS representation.

Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!
Thank you very much and have a great one!

many thanks for your reply.

how to ungroup? no instructions in the shared article

Hi @martin.dimov

Due to the redesigned structure, traditional ungrouping methods may not be applicable. To modify these containers, try unlocking the container itself or individually manipulate the objects within it.

Hi @martin.dimov, thank you for posting in the community! It sounds like you might find our manual layout feature useful for your use case. You can use this feature to either duplicate a current view using manual layout if a view has the resources you would like to move around freely or you can create a new view from scratch (but you would need to add the resources you want to move around manually with this option).

Alternatively, if you’re just looking to get a snapshot of the current view, you can use the export to Lucidchart option. This will give you more freedom to work outside of the Lucidscale functionality, but you will lose connection to the Cloud data.

I hope this helps. Feel free to let us know if you have any questions!
