Hi all! i recently had to make quite a few manual entries to some of our org charts & now I need to add connecting lines for the new additions. when I follow the instructions provided by Lucid, it does not apply the lines for me. Does anyone have any tips/tricks? Thank you in advance!

Hi @GerlingL, sorry you’re having trouble here! I noticed you mentioned this same issue in the post below. Just in an effort to make this thread as helpful as possible, my response here may be the same. Feel free to respond either within this thread or within the post linked below, whichever one you’d prefer.

Would you mind providing a detailed description of how you’ve added objects to your org chart? Would you mind sending me a screenshot of the portion of the diagram that you’d like to connect?

After importing employee data into your org chart, you should still be able to manually add new employees as shown below.

You can do so by going to an existing employee, hovering over the shape until you see the + signs, and selecting a plus sign to add a direct report, manager, or team member.

I had to manually add several people to two different org charts & it is not allowing us to creating connecting lines for the new additions. We have followed the instructions provided, watched YouTube tutorials...nothing is working. I’ve also tried reaching out to my Lucid rep several times.

Hi @GerlingL, thank you for providing that screenshot and I’m sorry that you’re still having trouble here. I’m happy to keep digging into this.

Can you please send a temporary Support PIN for this document? This will allow me to take a closer look at the issue you’re experiencing. For more information on generating a Support PIN, check out this Help Center article. You can post this PIN directly in this thread as it is only accessible by members of the Lucid support team.

Hi @GerlingL, thanks so much for sending over that PIN! Taking a closer look at your document, it appears that the employees you are hoping to connect are each in their own org chart, as shown in my example below. Notice how the employee Nia Gutkowski is at the bottom in their own org chart, and is not connected to the larger org chart above.

To combine your org charts, I recommend following the steps below:

  1. Select the individual employee shape that is in it’s own org chart, and click ‘copy’
  2. In the main org chart, select the employee shape that should be their superious, and click ‘paste’

Notice how in the example below, whichever employee I select ‘paste’ on in the main org chart becomes Nia’s manager.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any additional questions here.

I tried that & it did not work. I tried several times for different people & it still does not connect them to their superior.

Hi @GerlingL, my apologies for the delay here.

Taking a look again in your document, is appears that all the employees are now connected to their main org charts on each tab. Did this end up working for you?

No, it did not work. These are not the correct connecting lines that we wanted.

Hi @GerlingL, I’m sorry this is still causing trouble here. Would you mind describing what you’re hoping to achieve or showing an example how how you’d like the org charts to look? Would you mind providing a screenshot of the portion of your org chart that you’d like to change?

I have provided several screenshots & a PIN. I also had a meeting with my Lucid rep today, but i felt very rushed & none of the ongoing issues were resolved.I am past a deadline already & need to get these issues resolved ASAP. The issue is happening on multiple org charts...it will not allow us to create the connecting line that we need. It keeps making a straight line to all of the employees, when we need each employee connected to their Director, not to one another.

Hi @GerlingL, thank you for your response and I apologize for the delay here. To clarify - using the screenshot that you’ve provided below as an example, should Jennifer, Lonny, Miles, Nate, and Roberta all report directly to JC? And you would not like for them to be connected to one another in a vertical line, is that correct?

Is the example below what you are hoping to achieve?

Thank you for your help and patience! Details on what you are hoping your org chart layout to look like will help me to continue looking into this.
