Lucidchart is getting so slow even with a new blank diagram. It has become unusable.

I used to spend 2 hours a day on Lucidchart. Now I can’t even edit my current diagrams.

@richardlemieux it sounds like you’re asking why Lucidchart has become extremely slow, even with a brand-new blank diagram. Since you’re seeing the issue outside of just one large document, it may be related to something other than the diagram itself.

A few things to check:

  • Browser: Try opening Lucidchart in an incognito/private window or a different supported browser to see if an extension or cached data is affecting performance.
  • Cache: Clear your browser cache and restart the browser.
  • Hardware acceleration: If you’re using Chrome, try toggling hardware acceleration in the browser settings and restart.
  • Network/VPN: If you’re on a corporate network or VPN, test from another connection if possible.
  • Performance check: Open the Lucidchart document in another browser/device to see whether the slowdown follows the account or the computer.
  • Large diagrams: For existing diagrams, check whether there are many pages, complex shapes, images, or imported content that could be impacting performance.

Since you mentioned even a blank diagram is slow, could you share:

  1. Which browser and version you’re using?
  2. Your operating system?
  3. Does this happen with all Lucidchart documents or only certain ones?
  4. Are you using any browser extensions or a VPN?

That information should help narrow down whether it’s a browser/device issue, network-related, or something account-specific. If I were to take a guess, I’d probably guess that it had something to do with the VPN since there was a time when I couldn’t access anything on my phone when I used VPN.

I found the problem. It was the WebGL accelerator. I disabled it and the chart is 100 times faster. Thanks for Gemini. I could not find any bug reporting button on the app. I could not find that information in the help pages.
