Hello,

I'm looking to print a poster of a chart and would like to send it to a professional printing company. What is the best file format to use when exporting the chart to ensure high quality? I'm considering a size of either 10x10 or 10x3 inches—is that even possible?

Thank you for your guidance!

Hi @gbernal

For the best print results, export your Lucidchart design as a PDF. To ensure accuracy, set your canvas dimensions to match the exact poster size e.g., 10x10 or 10x3 inches before exporting.

  • Before sending your design to the print shop, confirm if they accept SVG files for editable vector output.
  • For large prints, avoid using PNG or JPEG formats, as they can appear pixelated when scaled.

Instead, opt for PDF or SVG for high-quality, resolution-independent results

Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!
Thank you very much and have a great one!
Warm regards

Hello,

Thanks for the information! I have a couple of questions to make sure I understand correctly:

  1. To convert a PDF to SVG format, what tools or process do you recommend? Is there a specific method you suggest for this conversion?

  2. When you mention Canvas, could you please clarify what you mean? Are you referring to the HTML5 Canvas element for web graphics, or something else?

Thanks for your help!

Hi @gbernal

If you have a PDF exported from Lucidchart and want to convert it to SVG, you will need to use external tools or software for this conversion
Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape, which can open PDFs and save or export them as SVG files
Online converters such as PDF Guru

When Canvas is mentioned in the context of Lucidchart or exporting graphics, it typically refers to the drawing area or workspace within Lucidchart where you create your diagram. It does not refer to the HTML5 Canvas element used for web graphics, unless you are specifically exporting for web development purposes which is uncommon for print posters.

Hope this cover’s everything!!

Hi @gbernal, thank you for posting in the community and @Humas1985 for some great tips when printing!
Just wanted to chime in and share that it’s possible to export your diagram as ‘SVG’ or ‘SVG with transparent background’ formats directly in Lucid. Hope this helps! Feel free to let us know if you have any questions.
