Have data links always been an enterprise feature?! We purchased a team license on the understanding that this was a premium feature and now it looks like an enterprise feature?!
Cheers

Hi there

Thanks for posting in the community! On a team subscription you have access to a one-time static data upload to a predefined diagram type such as an org chart ERD or mind map. This means that you will be able to use Lucidchart's org chart tool to import your data and automatically construct an org chart but you will not be able to refresh it.

The data linking you're referring to that is exclusive to enterprise subscriptions allows you to upload a data set then visualize and manipulate it with any shapes as well as refresh and overlay new data.

For more information about what's included in your Team subscription please see our Account Types article. If you have specific questions about creating your org chart take a look at this Org Charts article and post any questions below!

thank you for the reply.. has that always been an enterprise feature? When we paid for 'premium' I wasn't aware of the distinction. When was the enterprise account introduced?
Cheers

Thanks for continuing this thread! The Enterprise subscription has been a longstanding offering though there have been adjustments to the pricing and packaging of certain features including the move of data linking to enterprise-only at the beginning of this year. If you're interested in trying this functionality please contact our sales team to discuss setting up a trial!

Hi, I’m a member of a Team account and I have the same problem. In the Lucid plans there is a row with Basic Data Linking possibility and it is written One-Time import for Team Account. For me it means that I can import my data in data linking for one time. In the reality I can’t do this action because it’s an Enterprise feature. It is correct? It’s not clear that it is not possible in the Lucid Plans. Maybe I do something wrong when I try to import data? I try to import by go to File>Import>Data or directly in the Data Linking window on the left bar.

Thanks in advance for your support, best regards. Marco

Hi Marco,

Thanks for continuing this thread. I understand the confusion, there is a specific difference between "One-timedata Import" and "Data Linking" in Lucidchart.

On a Team subscription, you have access to a one-time static data import for specific diagram types, like Org Charts, ERDs, or Mind Maps. This allows you to automatically build a diagram, but you cannot refresh the data.

The Data Linking feature you're trying to use (via the left-hand panel) is exclusive to Enterprise subscriptions. This allows you to:

  • Link data to any shape on the canvas.

  • Refresh the data so the diagram updates automatically.

  • Use data overlays to track metrics.

To avoid the Enterprise prompt, don't use the Data Linking icon on the left. Instead, go to File > Import Data and select a specific category like Org chart or Entity relationship (ERD).

I hope this helps clarify!
