I’ve used the Lucid integration in Canvas to build an assignment for my course, so students would create their Lucidchart and submit it right there in Canvas. However, one student did their work directly on the Lucid website, and now cannot find a way to submit it to the Canvas assignment. Is there a way they can do so?

Hi @eredler, thanks for posting in the Lucid Community! Your students will be able to see a “Submit Assignment” button within their Canvas account. However, when you are registered as an Educator in Lucid, you do not have the ability to submit an assignment, and switching to student view does not switch your Lucid account, so you will not be able to see the button, but it should populate for your students! Please let me know if they run into any issues with submitting assignments!

Hi Amelia,

Because I have a question similar to the one submitted by @eredler, I’ll ask a follow-up here, if that’s okay.

Based on my reading of Eredler’s question, I think they were asking about what happens when a student does not use the Lucidchart template an instructor has embedded in a Canvas assignment but instead navigates to the Lucid website and logs in there and creates a Lucid document there, outside Canvas. If a student does that, is there some way for them, back in Canvas, to still submit the Lucid document they have created independently?

Hi @paulmorsink, thanks for adding to this thread! @eredler, I apologize for my misunderstanding, I’m happy to provide some more clarity on how students can submit Lucid assignments if they create a document in their account.

Rather than using the Lucid as the Submission type (as this will generate a new document in their account from Canvas), you’ll want to select Online, and then do a file upload or a website URL. The student can then save their work as a PDF or generate a Share link for you to access their work.

Please let me know if you have any further questions!
