It seems to me that there is a serious flaw in the way storage is managed in Lucid products:

If you delete content within a board or delete whole boards (and empty the trash) it has no effect on the percentage of storage space you have available. I have tested this by deleting large numbers of images from a board and whole boards: 12 days later and no change to the storage I have available.

The work around seems to be that you must delete image files from within image manager. These files are still present even if they have been deleted from boards or were part of boards that have been deleted. This seems ridiculous.

Couple this with the fact that you have to delete files from image manager by individually clicking on each image to select (all while a pop up regularly closes the window to tell you that you’ve “run out of free shapes”) and the user experience becomes very poor.

If there’s a fix for this I’d appreciate hearing about it.

Thanks

Hi @jonkelly

For more information, please refer to the community post on 'Clearing out Image Manager | Community,'. There have been numerous discussions on this topic, and I think it would be beneficial to submit a feature request.

If you're interested, feel free to add your own request to the feature request queue to help address this need

Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!
Thank you very much and have a great one!

Hi @jonkelly, thank you for posting in the Lucid Community. I’m sorry that you’re having issues here and I’m happy to help take a closer look. Thank you @Humas1985 for jumping in here as well to provide additional resources.

@jonkelly You can check how much of your storage is being used and what it is being used by your account settings under the "Plan and Billing" tab. If you hover over each of the colored sections, you can see what that portion of the storage represents. Would you mind providing a screenshot of your storage bar so I can take a closer look?

Please note, when deleting documents, in order to free up storage space you will need to navigate to your trash folder and select to delete the documents from your trash as well. Can you confirm that deleting documents and emptying your trash has still not resulted in storage freeing up?

Images generally take up the most space in your account, if you are running out of room it is recommended that you clear out as many images as you can from both your documents/boards and your Image Manager. To delete images from the Image Manager, I recommend the following steps.

  1. Open a Lucidchart document.
  2. Select the File menu from the menu bar.
  3. Hover your cursor over "Settings".
  4. Click Image manager.
  5. Select one or more images to delete by checking the box in the top-left corner of the thumbnail.
  6. Click trash-can-icon-in-image-manager-in-lucidchart.png the trash can icon from the top-right of the Image Manager.
  7. Select Delete.

You need to complete these steps for both Lucidchart and Lucidspark. To remove images you've added to Lucidspark, repeat the steps above by opening a Lucidspark board and switching to Lucidchart using universal canvas.
